I ordered 2 sets of these really cute dishes for my sons little family. They needed some dishes that is sturdy enough to stand up to 4 kids all under the age of 7. They had chips all over their small set of dishes they had. I didn't read the description completely because I was shocked to find out these dishes are made of a composite of a plastic. They don't look or feel plastic. She loves the color or these dishes. I love that there were no coffee cups. To me that is the biggest waste of a set of dishes. These dishes are really cute but another drawback for me was the fact they are not microwave safe. I am not sure why there are ANY dish on the market that isn't microwave safe. Almost every home in America has a microwave. I had to call my daughter in law to warn her that these dishes are not safe for the microwave. The dishes are a nice weight without being bulky or too heavy. Both plates are a nice size. The best feature of these dishes are how nice and deep and big the bowls are. They make great cereal or soup bowls. You can also have a huge salad in one of these bowels. One last nice thing about these dishes are they are scratch proof. I was so happy to see even though these are made of a very hard plastic composite. They are scratch proof and unbreakable. These dishes are definitely cute! I actually used one of the bowls last night and it held a good amount. It cleaned up just fine in the dishwasher and the design is just adorable! Almost still give this nice set 5 stars, but there is one issue. A single 16-piece set would have been plenty for my needs, but then if you break even a single plate you are out of luck since selection choices rotate so fast. So, I ordered 2 sets for plenty of backup, or even to cover matters if a couple of pieces were broken in shipment. (None were broken; all arrived intact.) One box said the contents were #66 out of 0600; the other box said the contents were #554 (maybe?) out of 0600. Obviously, consistency of pattern was lost during manufacturing. The large plates showed the most difference; the other pieces were closer to matching, but not perfect. Most of the pieces were closer to the pattern of the plate shown on the right with the wider border design (which is the most attractive). If you are really particular you will probably have to consider a more expensive product. The entire set was slightly less attractive in pattern and color than that shown on the site, but the sets are nevertheless nice. Incidentally, I do not intend to request replacement or compensation. I love these. For some reason I expected all the big plates to be one color and all the small bowls to be a different color and so on, but all four item types have one of every color shown (one creamy mocha/dried earth, one terracotta, one faded denim, one almond milk). The wide mouth bowl wasn't as wide as I'd expected, which was a relief; i wanted to be able to find everyday uses for both bowls, and I have. The colors that appeared on my computer monitor on the site were true to the reality before me, but since everyone's monitor, settings, and eyes are a little different there's always room for someone else to not have as lovely as experience. I've attached pictures with many props to try to lend a three dimensional idea of the sizes and shapes. The obvious prop is silverware, but sadly I don't own any and so could not include them as helpful references. I've given these a few hard smacks on accident since getting them a couple weeks ago and there's been no chipping or otherwise noticeable damage. The downside is that my plates especially arrived with several scratches. It's clear everything was packaged up very carefully, and I appreciated that everything except some plastic feet on the inside of the box was recyclable, but the scrapes are sad.. Sam Danger.
