Been waiting to get the refurbished 5 channel model for use of my stereo system. It?s replacing my Emotiva Basx 5125 5ch 125wattsx5 ch at 8ohms or 175x2 ch at 8ohns or 250x2 ch at 4ohms amp. Running Emotiva XSP-1 gen 2 preamplifier to Martin Logan 35xt speakers. My take is wow! What a big difference it made in terms of bass and mids and highs and since this heavy amp has 2 toroidal power supply. It?s like a poor man mono amp in a way for 2ch. When possible run XLR connectors always for noticeable improvement of sound quality and dead silence regarding background noise. The extra 15% off was icing on a killer deal of $1099 than 15% off on top of that basically about $950 high powered old school toroidal power each weighing about 40 pound each is why this amp is so front heavy.

I have been following and reading up on these Monolith amps for a few years now. Every time i go to buy one they are sold out. Then one day a few months ago they were back in stock. At first i was a little annoyed because for the year or so that i wanted to make the purchase the price was $1399 for the 5 channel and then when it finally came back in stock i had to pay the $1599 asking price. Having said all that the price was still worth it for this amp. As so many others have said that i didnt realize what i was missing until i added this awesome amp. Everything instantly came alive. Such clarity and much fuller. I instantly noticed that i was now hearing things that i never heard before. i cant say enough about how much i love this amp.

Not the prettiest. Big black box. Speaker terminals are plastic. For the price you can?t beat it.

Great Amp and Great Price. Have had it almost a year and runs perfectly. The back connectors could have been a bit less loose. My Speaker wires with connectors that I bought from Monoprice keep popping out.
It is heave and a beast but cool as a cucumber.

Overall I love it.

5 star but it makes my speakers pop every time I use my AVR Remote or Change a Channel

I am very happy with this purchase.  It is a real beast of an amp that provides all the power I could ever want for my 5.1 system.  My  speakers are relatively inefficient, at 86 - 88 dB.  At higher levels,  this amp provides more control, punch and definition in the bass and better imaging and clarity  over using my Denon AVR speaker outputs. 

It's not that it sounded bad with just the Denon powering the system, especially at moderate volume, it's just that when the Monolith was powered up and the volume cranked, it was like wow, that's what was missing!  In hot rod lingo, "There's no replacement for displacement!"

I have the amp  in a open back cabinet with about 6 inches clearance above, and it runs just slightly warm to the touch and overheating is not an issue.   The cabinet has a dark tinted glass front, so the bright blue power light mentioned by others is not a problem.

The soft start feature using the AVR Trigger  output works perfectly.  The amp powers up when the AVR turns on and there is no noise or thump, other than the soft click of the relay.

Initially, I had a problem with a barely audible mechanical buzz emanating from the toroidal  transformers.  (This is not to be confused with a hum in the speakers, which is a grounding issue.)  A quick internet search suggested the cause could be  DC Offset noise in my AC power line, often caused by light dimmers, switching power supplies etc.  I plugged the amplifier into a different outlet and voila, buzz totally gone!   I just mention this because, if anyone else experiences something similar, don't panic.  There is nothing wrong with the amp.  

I use the Monoprice banana plugs for the speaker wire connections and the fit is firm and positive.

Monolith 5 channel amplifier

This is the best value in power amps that I know of. I was already running a Yamaha receiver with 110 watts per channel (not all channels driven) and the system sounded pretty good. The Yamaha receiver is now the preamp and control center with the Monolith providing power. This power amp with it's fast slew rate and strong dampening rate provide excellent control over the speakers. Sound quality, imaging and depth have been noticeably improved. The music can be low, medium or loud without a hint of strain and the bottom end now has much more punch and precise accuracy. I would recommend this amp to anyone looking for a high end amp but not wanting to spend $10K or more.
The only thing to be aware of is this amp is solid and HEAVY. You may need a friend to help if you are installing it into a cabinet etc.

Love this amp!

My Sony za3100es HT is on STEROIDS  as soon as i replaced my outlaw 7000 with this monolith 5x200. I was skeptic at first since the only difference is only 70wts/channel. But i can tell right away, the speakers sound are more robustly improved. Theres thickness, boldness in my q acoustic 3050i and the rest of the floor q acoustics, i let the emotiva power my ceiling speakers. Loving the monolith.

HT on STEROIDS

The center channel on the first amp they sent me didn't work. Had to ship it back for a replacement. The right-surround channel didn't work on the replacement. I returned the replacement for a full refund and bought a different brand. This amp would be a great value, but I didn't have the energy to take a chance having to repackage it a third time.

Monolith 5 Channel Amp

Bought this 5x200w amp 2 months ago , have it connected to amy Yamaha RX-A2080 pre-outs, System is 5.1, SVS Ultra Towers, Nuance Center & surround speakers, Monolith 12" Sub.

Sound is good & clean, However i now have a super annoying random Buzz coming from inside the amp, slowly starts then increases in loudness, then quickly quiets down, then i hear it start again, faint at first then louder & louder till i have a solid continuous BUZZ/HuMMMM  , Drives me nuts , the amp still works but this is so annoying , if I'm listening at low volume i can hear it over music, in between songs or while not playing sound its unbelievably frustrating. At first i though it was a fan but now i don't know ??
Sound is coming directly from the amp ( NOT THROUGH SPEAKERS )
