I bought this one for my mom as a Christmas present because she's admired mine but would never be so lavish on herself. You really can't miss with these, the way I see it is that someone else already found the flaw in it and Kitchenaid has given it a more thorough look-over to find any possible problems so it's even better.

It did really well.  I like the shape of the bowl.  I did not get a shield, and will need to look into getting one,  So far, so good.  I am a baker, so we will see how it stands up over the course of six weddings.

Bowl doesn't lift high enough for ingredients at the bottom to get mixed properly, even after turning the adjustment screw. Had my last mixer, same model for more than 30 years, it was a workhorse.
