[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I put an incredible amount of wear on my kitchen appliances as I use almost every one more than once per day. I make doughs, cakes, sauces, pasta, pastries, nut milks, soy milks - pretty much every pantry basic. The commercial mixer has been allowing me to not push my appliances to the brink of death. There's ample room for big batches without getting dough stuck to the top of the mixer. The attachments are high quality, and sturdy. My pasta roller works on it too (although I have heard different about the ones with cages). 

Only thing about this that is annoying is that the ring with the brand name is kind of loose on the right side, and so flour does make its way in there. 

I don't think this would be worth it if you didn't use your mixer more than 1-2 times per week, or if you only do small batches. Otherwise it is a no brainer.

A must have for the daily user

I replaced my old kitchenaid which still works but couldn't handle the load.  My son's girlfriend who is just starting out will get that as a gift.  There is a learning curve on getting the beater attachments on and off but it is totally worth the effort.

Love this Machine!

I make lots of croissants (a rather heavy dough) and big batches of cookies, and this has no problem mixing any of it. And being able to adjust the beater height to allow for a smaller bowl if desired is phenomenal! Another thing I LOVE is that despite the powerful motor, it's still quiet when running! Cannot recommend highly enough.

A Dream Come True!

I absolutely love this mixer. My only regret is that I had recently replaced my smaller one with another smaller one and now I probably won't use that. It's powerful and BIG. I can make a five pound (of flour) batch of bread and it doesn't struggle at all. It kneads the dough and it comes out great. It's a beast! Also handles double batches of cookies with ease and mixes up recipes with hard ice cream with no effort. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the orange cord. My husband is impressed because it has the same horse power as his table saw :).

Great Purchase

I just cranked out 40 lbs of assorted cookies for my daughters senior reception in two days thanks to being able to make triple batches. I love my new kitchen aid! And still have my old one as backup!

Kicks butt!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you plan on working with even soft bread dough, this is the only machine still offered by kitchen aid that is powerful enough to do it.  The DC motor is powerful and much quieter than the new bowl lift models with weaker 600 watt motors. I frequently use the food prep accessories, otherwise I may have bought an Ankara in ( which is priced the same but really made for doughs.

Multitasker that can handle dough

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wore out my old kitchenaid mixer and decided to go with a commercial level unit. I have used my new mixer twice, once for bread and once for cookies. So far, so good! My wife and I made 9 dozen cookies in one batch yesterday and the mixer handled it nicely. I also made a 4 pound dough this week with low hydration (59%) and the mixer did not even hint at stalling. I do wish it had a splash guard like my old mixer did, but I can live without it. I don't usually like to give early reviews because the test of time is where it really counts, but I like this so far and look forward to using my other attachments (pasta, grinders, etc) on this mixer. I gave it 4 stars for now because I believe star number 5 has to be earned with at least a year of consistent performance! Based on what I am seeing after 2 trial runs, I would recommend this mixer to any serious home baker.

So far so good!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am a long-time owner-operator of a 5qt Artisan and am also an avid sourdough bread baker. The Artisan could barely do one loaf's worth of dough at a time and I have needed to be able to do more. So when I had an opportunity to get this 8qt Commercial version at a good price I jumped pretty quickly. It has some amazing features compared to the Artisan and I'm very happy with the purchase. Things like the quietness, large capacity and strength, and still not too heavy to move around. But it's not perfect. I had a very hard time learning how to get the bowl off and it still doesn't feel intuitive. Getting the bowl on isn't that hard although it does require some strength. I can do two large loaves of dough at once, but the dough still climbs up the hook and there is no flat plate guard at the top of the hook like there is on the Artisan hook. Also, it's really too big to just do a single loaf, the hook just doesn't get close enough to the bottom of the bowl. So, if I want to only do one loaf, I still have to haul out the Artisan (and it's seen better days).
I'm not sure this mixer is big enough for a true commercial operation, although if you have the time, it seems like it can just keep working all day without any strain. For what I got it for I am pretty happy and satisfied and would recommend it to anyone who needed the same capabilities.
