Will this sharpener work with fat, kindergarten sized, pencils?

This pencil sharpener is very good quality. My son is in elementary school and they still require all work to be completed in pencil. He can use it himself with no problems. It's not very quiet, but it is quitter than other pencils sharpeners I've used in the past. My son likes that it is blue, the color is attractive. It definitely gets the job done, and sharpens the pencils without an issue. The cord is long enough so you can reach it to sit on a desk or table near an outlet, and the cord doesn't easily tangle which is good because that's also been an issue in the past, especially when kids are the ones primarily dealing with it. The price is reasonable for the product, and I would recommend it for classroom use. We just use this at home, as the handheld sharpeners have just been too much of a headache to deal with. The reservoir that holds the pencil shavings is quite large, I didn't expect it to be so big, you will not have to empty it out very often at all. It also comes out easy enough, but not too easy that it will fall out unexpectedly. Overall, good quality product.

pencil sharpener

The Bostitch QuietSharp 6 Electric Pencil Sharpener is a classroom sharpener, but I use it at home and it is great. It has a one-hand easy turn selector dial with 6 sizes to choose from. The QuietSharp motor is very quiet and it sharpens very fast. The Tip Saver Technology stops sharpening at just the right time no matter what type of pencil is being sharpened. The shavings tray is very generously sized. The base is oversized and has suction cup feet for stability. There is a 6 foot power cord so placement should not be an issue either. The MagnaSafe safety switch stops the motor when the shavings tray is removed.

We have really been putting this pencil sharpener through the paces, with two school age children and two adults who always use pencil, it is used very frequently. It seems to be very sturdy and able to hold up to rigorous use. We have had to empty the shavings tray once already and it was very easy to remove and clean out. The safety switch allows me to have the kids do it without worrying about them hurting themselves. I would recommend this for any household, not only a classroom. Especially if your family uses a variety of different pencils.

Not only for the classroom

Not only is this bad boy well made and a pretty blue color, it has suction cups on the bottom to hold it in place without ruining furniture. Gone are the days of digging for a sharpener in a bag! This product has simplified life for this homeschool mama. Highly recommend to all! It's a great product and doesnt eat at the pencils to waste them. Nice smooth sharpening every time! I am super happy with this product that I recieved through the Spark Reviewer program.

Best sharpener EVER!!!!

The Bostitch Quiet Sharp 6 is quiet for a big, sturdy electric pencil sharpener. There are 6 pencil sizes available and standard is marked with an S. The sharpener is a larger size, perfect for classroom, office or home use. We use it for my daughter's homework and art. You can easily sharpen both lead and colored pencils. The dial to choose a size is easy to rotate, and you can select by going left or right. I like the bigger size so it stays put, no searching for a pencil sharpener.

Quiet sharpening

This is nice has suction cups at the bottom to keep it in place. It is electric. Easy to open compartment to dump out shavings. Has 6 diffrent side's and all you have to do is turn the black part to appropriate size. It is quiet not so loud and does a great job don't have to keep pencil back in to get it right. Im loving it. Those shavings are small.

Sharpner

I received this Bostitch Professional Quiet Sharp 6 classroom pencil sharpener as part of the Walmart Spark Review Team to review and report on this product. First of all this sharpener is large and and more of a commercial grade pencil sharpener. However after saying that it will come in really handy if you have to sharpen a lot of pencils. My Granddaughter loves to use color pencils for school projects and this sharpener will do the job in keeping her pencils sharp. It has a tip saver technology that pulls the cutters back once the pencil is sharp even if pencil is not pulled out meaning your pencils will not get wasted by over sharpening. It has a switch that automatically shuts down the motor when shavings tray is removed as a safety feature. It has a high capacity easy clean shavings tray, It has a heavy duty motor for quiet stall free operation and a thermal overload protection to keep motor from burning up. It has suction cups on the bottom to help prevent sharpener from moving while in use and has a one hand easy turn 6 size selector dial to sharpen most pencils and even sharpens tri-write pencils for standard pencils the dial has an S under the correct hole. The only negative i have noticed is on occasion the pencil will have a place on side where wood was not removed from the lead. I don't know why this happens but turning the pencil will remove the remaining wood. I gave the sharpener 4 stars instead of 5 for this reason only. I recommend this sharpener to anyone that has a large amount of pencils to sharpen or just wants a large quiet pencil sharpener.

Fast and Quiet

I received the Bostitch Quiet Sharp 6 Electric Pencil Sharpener as part of Walmart's Spark Reviewer Program. It advertises it to be a classroom sharpener but it can be used at home as well as in an office setting. I have mine down in the garage where we have a small workshop. There is a big need for a pencil sharpener here. What I like about this is there are six different openings of different sizes. This is great because there are many different kinds of pencils that we need to sharpen such as regular pencils and larger pencils used for marking projects. There is a suction cups at the bottom of the sharpener to keep it stable. This is very important for safety reasons. There is a thermal switch on the sharpener which protects it from overheating. There is a sensor that indicates that the pencil sharpened completely by slowing down the motor. To me these features are important because it protects you from getting seriously hurt. The shavings tray is high capacity to hold lots of shavings. It's also easy to remove. Another feature that's good is if the shavings tray is removed the pencil sharpener will not operate. Also the cord is pretty long which is good because sometimes you may not have a convenient outlet available. The unit is made of plastic. With proper care it should last for many years.

Gets The Job Done!!!

The Bostitch QuietSharp 6 Classroom sharpener is larger than I expected. It is easy to use and has many special features that make this safe and versatile for a classroom or office setting. The machine is fairly quiet and can hold a lot of shavings. Removing the reservoir is messy. It grinds wood so fine it gets beneath the holder and you have to clean it all out after you empty it. There is a Tip Saver technology that stops the pencil from over- sharpening. This can be a good thing to prevent children from standing at the machine and sharpening the pencils to a nub. However it also causes the pencils to sharpen unevenly. Another safety measure is that the unit does not operate without the shavings cup in place. The sharpener has suction feet to prevent it from sliding off of a table or desk. I wish it was a bit more compact. It is bulky and at 7.5 x 5 x 9 inches, it takes up a good portion of space.

Quiet but large

Our daughter loves colouring books but it's a pain to sharpen them all when they get dull so this electric sharpener saves our fingers and time! It makes smooth and pointy pencil points, fast. It features six different sizes so it can sharpen a lot of different pencils you have at home or in your classroom. The suction cups at the bottom are strong and perfect to hold the unit in place when in use. The shavings tray is big and easy to remove and replace. The only downside is that it's not really quiet, it does make a very noticeable sound. However, we are happy to have this item in our home and happy with its performance!

Not really quiet but does the job!

I wasn't too sure what to expect with this sharpener, but wow was I impressed. This is a lot bigger than I expected, it measures 8 inches long x 7 1\2 inches tall x 4 inches wide. You'll need a good size spot on your desk for it because t takes up a lot of room. I like that it has a big shaving tray so I don't have to keep dumping it every time I use it. I also like the six size selector size dial, you can pick from 6 different pencil sizes. It does have a chemical smell but I'm sure it will off gas.The box says it has quiet sharp motor but it is not quiet it's loud. I also like that it has suction cup feet on bottom so the sharpener does not slide around. Some of the features is Tip saver technology to extend the life of your pencil,XHC technology for 70% faster sharpening and 10xs longer life,thermal overload protection, MagnaSafe tamper proof safety switch shuts down when shaving tray is removed. This has a seven year limited warranty.It takes 3.0 seconds to sharpen a pencil,it's also compatible with tri- write pencils. I recommend this sharpener because it's powerful and it gets the job done.

Wow,I'm impressed!

I've been looking for a decent pencil sharpener the past few months. I'm a fourth grade teacher and my kids go through pencils like their building log cabins. I need my students to have sharpened pencils to write neatly. However, I'm not sure if it's the pencil's quality is defective becuase the pencil companies got their wood/graphite from a 3rd world country, but I know that this pencil sharpener isn't worth the money. It over heats quickly, eats the pencils, and doesn't sharpen to a point. When the pencil is "sharpened", there's always that little piece of wood left over on one side of the tip. It is quieter that other traditional sharpeners; however I'd rather have a pencil sharpener as loud as chainsaw that gets my pencils sharpened over the Stanley Bostitch Quiet Sharp 6 Commercial Desktop Electric Pencil Sharpener.
