Fridigaire top Mount ice maker kit is fast!
If there was ANYTHING I could change about this great product, it would be to lower it's profile: because of the size, my freezer loses quite a bit of it's capacity (20-25%) and the bottom shelf is very low. The bucket is too deep - the ice would get too 'old' if you were to fill it up - and it causes the ice to fragment falling into it - so why not use a less deep tray so the consumer can raise the shelf up? That being said, the ice comes out fast and the size of the cubes is very useful for a variety of containers!

Perfect for us. 1. Easy installation instructions, getting it up and functional. 2. As of this date performs as expected - makes ice with no problems. Durability is a metric to be evaluated after a longer time period as passed. Make sure you get the model suited for your Frigidaire Refrigerator.

Poorly made
The ice maker keeps falling down into the ice cubes at an angle. We tried to get it to stand upright, which we finally did after a few try's. It is cockeyed & won't fit properly the way it should. I'm just waiting for it to fall down again. Unsatisfactory. The ice cubes are not the regular size. They are quite small. Also I did not realize until the men were gone, but instead of fitting the refrigerator to the sink edge, they fit it plush with the wall. This left a wide gap between the sink & the refrigerator, so nothing can be put there or it would fall down into the gap. VERY unsatisfactory. Not happy.

Solid ice maker
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This ice maker was installed a few weeks after the refrigerator was delivered. The installation was quick and easy. The ice maker is solid and produces ample ice. The only drawback is the design in regards to the freezer shelving. Once the ice maker is installed, there is only one possible position for the freezer shelf, making the bottom section quite small.

Great ice maker!

The default setting is programmed to make very small ice cubes (which happens to be our preference), but something to note. It was installed at the time of delivery, and we haven’t experienced any issues. Overall, definitely recommend!

Nice ice maker
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased the ice maker along with my top freezer refrigerator. The fridge I purchased is great. It has the recessed handles and looks so sleek. I do have an issue with the ice maker. It seems the ice turns into one big ice cube. With a few loose one on top. It makes a lot,of ice. Do I just need to put the ice maker button to off, when bin is particularly full. I don’t use that much ice. I probably would of been fine with just ice cube trays. But since water line was already there. I figured why not...thanks

Works well so far!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this ice maker for a few weeks now (I purchased it for my new Frigidaire top-freezer refrigerator), and so far it works well. The installers of my fridge had quite a time trying to get this unit in properly, but once they did, it worked perfectly, and after a few test batches, I had great ice. One thing I am confused about is how to get it to stop making ice for a while so I can use up what it has made. There’s no sensor arm, and the stapled instructions that came in the box were taken away with the rest of the packaging by the installers before I realized they were gone. This is not a fault with the product, but I wish it were easier to find the answer. The good news is, it really cranks out ice! (If Frigidaire wants to respond to tell me how to turn this type of ice maker off and on, I’d appreciate it!)

The size of the ice cubes are on the small size but compared to my other fridge that did not have an ice maker, I really like it.

Makes lots of small icecubes. When using the ice tray too catch the cubes, have to put the shelf in at the lowest setting. Ice maker was missing cover to hide on off button

Works fine. But I can't figure out how to change the water filter on this thing. It came installed on my fftr1835vs unit but I can't find it and I swear I know how to use Google. So any help would be appreciated.

Ice maker shut off arm.

Flex tray

Ice has a funny taste
We have this unit installed in a FFTR1835VB model refrigerator. The ice has begun to have a very funny taste associated with it. We verified the fridge and freezer has no old, open food inside. We emptied the ice bucket and wiped it down. I don't believe this ice maker has a water filter with it so we aren't sure what step to try next and get this bad taste to go away. Thanks for the help!

Is there an on/off button?
I just moved into a place that came with a fridge and this ice maker. The ice maker is pretty much set up, except there is a sort of lever that is separated and next to it. I have been unable to make ice thus far.
Where/how should I attach this lever? And is there an on/off button?

Need Operating Manual!
Seems to be nice enough product and no trouble installing. Had install instruction but no operating manual included. Saw how to change the ice size in a response to a review. No install guide or user guide on the product page. Or specifications for that matter.

It gets the job done

Plastic Taste & Smell
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this ice maker for 8 months and the ice still has a funny plastic taste and smell. There are no cleaning instructions, so after research, I've cleaned my freezer and ice maker with a vinegar and warm water solution, and also with baking soda. I have done this 3 times now, and while the ice is much better than the first 3 batches, it still tastes and smells awful. The ice maker itself is working fine, producing ice etc.

Feast or Famine With This Ice Maker
Absolutely ridiculous and inconsistent.
This ice maker either produces an absolute ton of ice (nearly overflowing the bucket) or will go days/weeks barely produces a few little pieces.
An ice maker shouldn't be this difficult.
It should just make ice.

Very slow ice maker
I recently bought this ice maker for my new Frigidaire top freezer refrigerator.
I’ve never seen a longer harvest cycle in an ice machine and I’m in the business over 35yrs.
Furthermore no automatic shutoff arm ?
I’m hoping the manufacturer has answers or it will be going back

Does the refrigerator have to be next to the sink for the ice maker to work?
No. But will need to order the water hook up line to go from ice maker to nearest cold water pipe.
