Product description

Product code: 68263708

A traditional shape, this teapot features a detailed Sweet Pea illustration. Made of earthenware in the UK, it's dishwasher, microwave and freezer safe, as well as oven safe up to 180°C for everyday use.

The Botanic Garden collection is the most famous range from Portmeirion. Over 30 different flowers are used in the designs for the collection and it is constantly changing, with new motifs and products regularly added to the range. Each ceramic piece is made with care, attention and love, passing through 22 pairs of hands before being ready for your home. Designed by Susan Williams-Ellis, the range features pretty floral motifs and a signature leaf border, finished with a chip-resistant glaze.

Choose the perfect china

All our china is made from clay and kiln-fired for durability. Except for pieces with special trims, everything is dishwasher-safe. Below are a few options to consider when choosing your perfect china.

EarthenwareStrong and practical, earthenware is often a little thicker than other ceramics, making it ideal for everyday use.
StonewareFired at high temperatures, stoneware is very tough and heat-resistant. It comes in a number of different glaze finishes.
PorcelainAffordable yet luxurious, porcelain is renowned for its translucency. Fired at high temperatures, porcelain has an extremely tough glazed surface, making it durable.
Fine china The synthetic bone ash used in fine china makes it a more affordable alternative to bone china. Like bone china, it's strong, translucent and delicate, and creamier in colour.
New bone china A type of porcelain with added calcium oxide to achieve a similar aesthetic as bone china, but without animal bone ash.
Bone china White bone china is the strongest and most translucent ceramic. Though it looks delicate, it's tough enough for daily use and is usually dishwasher-safe. It contains at least 35% bone ash.

Brand information

Founder and pottery designer Susan Williams-Ellis and her husband, Euan Cooper-Willis, opened the door to Portmeirion Pottery in the heart of Stoke-on-Trent in 1960. Susan's father was Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, the architect and creator of Portmeirion Village in North Wales and she spent her childhood and youth socialising with and being taught by creative talents such as Henry Moore and Graham Sutherland. Her innate feeling for shape, form and pattern flourished. The opportunity to use those skills came along when her father asked her to create ceramics for the gift shop at Portmeirion Village. Over the coming years and after opening Portmeirion Pottery, Susan designed both shape and surface pattern which, in the 1960s, was considered quite unique. Her innovative designs put Portmeirion on the map and today the pottery continues to move with the ever-changing fashion and trends, but always with the same philosophy: to make beautiful high-quality products with timeless style.
