I own several gas pole trimmers and this is my first battery one.... Surprisingly, it works extremely well and seems to have sufficient power which is one of the things I was initially concerned about... the extensions are easy to put together and the unit is very suitable working from the ground... However, the head is heavy and not keeping the unit in a vertical position creates some balancing problems as trying to hold this unit in a horizontal position with the head extended away from the body is almost impossible, especially on a ladder....removing the center extention and shortening the device, naturally helps a great deal....the on/off switch because of safety latches is difficult to get used to....But all and all, its a good unit and at this price is a steal....

Hated to give 3 no's, I like the Pole saw, it cuts good, power is good, breaks down into 3 pieces, but it leaks bar chain oil everywhere. I have read reviews from other owners that their saw leaks oil also so it's not just mine I believe it's a defect in the oil container. I sent a question to Dewalt about the leak and they answered with a cop out idiotic response, "You should empty the oil container after every use". That really makes your product convenient.

My preference has always been gas powered tools but I figured Id try this battery powered pole saw. Works extremely well. I was surprised how long the battery lasts. The first time I used it it was used HARD! Went the whole session on 1 charge. WOW! Yes, Id buy this tool if you need a good pole saw.

Easy to control, not too heavy, great reach. But do not confuse this with a gas powered chain saw, it is for limbs. But I've cut some pretty thick ones. Be sure to have an escape plan when those big ones come down!

I've cut branches up to 5 inches on apple trees with no problem and it's fast. I haven't tried larger branches yet but I think it would do okay. I don't have any other trimmers to compare it to but when using the extension it is fairly heavy out on the saw end and a little wobbly. A telescoping arm would give more adjustment as this has only two lengths, without the extension and with the extension. The quality looks very good.
