I have been using a Sony RX-100 IV loaned by a friend and liked it but the 70mm equivalent lens just didn't have enough reach. The newer Sony's have a 200mm lens on the long end but you give up sensitivity and in a small format camera you need every f-stop you can get. I have taken a series of pictures with both cameras and the Canon consistently looks better, properly rendering colors rather than making all the foliage green and ignoring the yellow tints like the Sony. Same is true for flesh tones, and this is in camera RAW where it is most important. Viewfinder is brighter on the Canon and the menu system makes use of the touch screen unlike the Sony.

Canon G5x ii - very compact & easy to use camera. The auto focus is solid & the pop-up EVF gives another dynamic for composing your shots.

It is loaded with useful features that many cameras this size do not have. The grip is great for a small camera. Probably the most significant feature would be "It is fun use"

I'm having a great time learning how to use the camera!! The picture quality is great. Don't know about sound because I haven't been able to download, edit and post to be able to hear it, but I have a YouTube creator friend that has one and his videos turn out very good.

Due to the pandemic Its use has been limited, but the few pictures I have taken exceed expectations for a camera with a one inch sensor.
