Overview: The Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone is a dynamic mic designed for podcasting, live-streaming, gaming, and vocal recording. It features both USB and XLR outputs, along with a built-in mounting yoke. A USB connection to your computer lets you use the ShurePlus MOTIV Desktop app to access setup features like Auto-Level Mode, EQ, Filtering, Compression & Limiting, and more.

Capsule: The MV7 features a dynamic mic capsule with a unidirectional cardioid pattern, that incorporates Shure's Voice Isolation Technology, allowing it to pick up sound directly in front of the mic while rejecting background noise from other angles.

Housing: The Shure MV7 features a rugged all-metal construction for outstanding protection and reliability. A threaded wire-mesh and foam grille protects the capsule, and an outer foam windscreen is included, helping eliminate vocal sibilance and plosives. This also helps create a warmer more intimate sound to speech.

Mounting: An adjustable microphone yoke is pre-installed on the Shure Podcasting Microphone, letting you mount the MV7 to most standard table-top stands or boom-arms (both sold separately). Tensioning-knobs on either side of the mic yoke let you easily adjust the mic angle.

Connections: Three connection ports on the bottom of the microphone provide the following:

• Micro-B USB: Provides the connection to your computer, letting you use the ShurePlus MOTIV software to configure microphone options such as EQ, Tone, Compression, and more.
• XLR: A passive, unbalanced XLR jack is provided to connect the mic to pre-amp or audio mixer input. When using the XLR output, software settings (EQ, Tone, Compression, etc) will have no effect on the audio.
• Monitor Output: A 3.5mm jack can be used to connect a pair of headphones or earbuds for monitoring while using the mic.

Controls & Indicators: The MV7 features a touch-sensitive panel for quick adjustments and visual feedback.

• LED Bar: An 8-segment row of LEDs can be used to display the microphone and headphone levels. The LED color indicates which parameter level is being displayed:
  • Green: Microphone level.
  • Orange: Headphone level.
  • Green/Orange: Monitor Mix blend level.
• Volume Control Slider: Used in conjunction with the LED Bar, the Volume slider lets you adjust the microphone or headphone level by swiping your finger.
• Monitor Toggle: Lets you switch between the microphone (green) and headphone (orange) volume controls. Pressing and holding activates the Monitor Mix control. This lets you swipe left or right on the Volume Slider to adjust the balance between the Mic Audio and Playback Audio while monitoring.
• Mute: A Mute soft button lets you mute/unmute the mic.
• Settings Lock: Pressing and holding both the Mute and Monitor Toggle buttons will Lock/Unlock the settings. A corresponding Lock icon will light when the settings are locked.

Desktop App: The ShurePlus MOTIV Desktop app, available for both PC and MAC computers, lets you configure and store settings for the MV7 microphone. After downloading the MOTIV app, found here, the following setup options will be available:

• Auto Mode & Manual Mode: Auto Mode allows the app to select the best options for the microphone, while Manual Mode gives you full control over the MV7's settings. Auto Mode provides the following options:
  • Custom Presets: Configuration of the mic settings can be saved and recalled as Custom Presets.
  • Settings Lock: Lets you protect your settings from inadvertently being changed.
  • Mic Mute: Toggles the mic Mute On/Off.
  • Monitor Mix: An on-screen slider lets you adjust the balance of the mic and playback source signals, working the same as the Monitor Mix slider on the microphone.
  • Mic Position: Lets you select the distance from the sound source to the mic, with options for Near and Far.
  • Tone: Three Tone settings, Dark, Natural, and Bright, let you quickly fine-tune the sound.

  • Mic Mute/Gain: Lets you manually adjust the mic input Gain and Mute the signal.
  • Monitor Mix
  • EQ: Provides four options for sculpting the microphone sound:
    • Flat: Signal is unprocessed.
    • High-Pass: Cuts out lower frequencies, reducing the proximity effect.
    • Presence Boost: Boosts higher frequencies to emphasize clarity and fullness.
    • High-Pass/Presence Boost: Applies both settings to the signal.
  • Compression: Offers the options of Off, Light, Medium, and Heavy compression, for leveling out the input signal's dynamics.
  • Limiter: Helps prevent volume peaks from causing distortion. Options include On and Off.

Computer Compatibility: System Requirements for the ShurePlus MOTIV Desktop app include:

Smartphone & Tablet Compatibility: The Shure MV7 microphone can be used with select Android and Apple devices with more limited functionality than a desktop computer.

• Android: Lets you use Shure MOTIV Audio and Video apps, as well as some third-party recording apps, for recording only (no live-streaming, conferencing, or phone calls). Compatible Android devices include: Google Pixel, Google Pixel 2/2XL, Google Pixel 3/3XL, Huawei P20 Pro, LG G5, LG G6, LG V20, Galaxy Note 10, Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy Note 9, Galaxy Note 10, Galaxy s7, Galaxy s8/s8+, and Galaxy s9/s9+.
  • Android Oreo 8.0 or higher
