A floor-stander you'll be proud to own

Some speakers are designed with small, nondescript cabinets made to be tucked away in the corner, or mounted on the wall out of sight. Jamo's C 97 II is not one of those speakers.

This giant, beautiful, three-way floor-stander is designed to make its presence known both sonically and visually in your room. As the Danish hi-fi company's flagship tower speaker, it does an excellent job on both fronts.

Jamo Concert 9 Series C 97 II Floor-standing speaker

The C 97 II includes outrigger feet for increased stability (shown in dark apple with tweed grille removed).

A three-way design for smooth, detailed sound

The C 97 II matches a 1" silk dome tweeter with a 6" HCCC (Hybrid Composition Conical Cone) midrange and two 6" HCCC woofers. This complement of four drivers creates super-smooth sound with nuance and detail throughout its wide frequency range.

I'd personally love to use a pair of these in my listening room as part of a sweet stereo music setup. They're also ideal as heavy-hitting front left and right channels of a Jamo home theater system.

Beautiful design and finish

Jamo knows how important a large speaker's visual presence is for their customers. That's why they equipped the C 97 II with a high-quality woodgrain vinyl finish, and a full-length woven tweed grille.

If you decide to remove the magnetic grille and use this handsome tower without it, you'll be happy to know there are no visible connection points. You'll enjoy a super-clean look from top to bottom.

Bi-amp or bi-wire for the best performance

This tower comes equipped with two pairs of speaker inputs for bi-amping or bi-wiring. It also includes four outrigger feet for added stability, and to decouple the cabinet from your floor for better sound.

Product Research

Features

Three-Way Floorstanding Loudspeaker: The Jamo Concert 9 Series C 97 II is a three-way floorstanding loudspeaker designed for exceptional detail and balanced, dynamic reproduction. The C 97 II three-way floorstanding loudspeaker houses a 1" silk dome tweeter, a 6" HCCC midrange driver, and two 6" HCCC woofers for dynamic full-range, room-filling sound.

  • 1" Silk Dome Tweeter: The 1" Silk dome tweeter mated to an Anti-Diffraction Waveguide offers exceptionally clean, smooth high frequency extension both on-axis and off-axis.
  • 6" HCCC Midrange: The 6" Hybrid Composition Conical Cone (HCCC) midrange driver delivers warm, natural midrange frequencies that are detailed and clear.
  • Dual 6" HCCC Woofers: The two 6" HCCC woofers incorporate Hybrid Composition Conical Cone (HCCC) technology that provides the stiffness and strength of aluminum or titanium, with the transient response and smoothness of wood fiber, while Long Displacement Surround (LDS) provides cleaner, tighter, and deeper bass.

Bass Reflex MDF Cabinet: The Jamo C 97 II utilizes a bass reflex enclosure with a rear-firing port for enhanced, smooth bass response. The speaker enclosure is constructed of MDF and finished with a high quality wood grain finish (available in Black Ash, White Oak, or Dark Apple).

Magnetic Grille: The C 97 II comes with magnetic grilles (no mounting holes or push pins) for a clean, minimalistic front-baffle design. The large woven tweed grille cloth features a heavy texture which finishes off the loudspeaker's modern look.

Dual Binding-Post Terminals: The floorstanding loudspeaker has two sets of chrome-plated, binding posts connected by jumpers. Using the dual binding posts, you can bi-amp or bi-wire the speakers. The binding post terminals will accept banana plugs (single only), pin-connectors, spade-connectors, and bare wire (up to 10AWG).

  • Bi-Wiring: Bi-wiring can provide noticeable improvements in the overall transparency of your loudspeakers. Run separate speaker wires to the low & high frequency drivers from a single amplifier (the upper set of binding posts are for the high frequency drivers; the lower set of binding posts are for the low frequency drivers).
  • Bi-Amping: Bi-amping allows you to use separate amplifiers for the high & low frequency sections of your loudspeaker for greater dynamic range & lower distortion. We recommend that your separate amplifiers have identical gain to preserve the speaker's voicing balance.
Note: If you decide to bi-wire or bi-amp, you must remove the jumpers between the terminal posts (failure to do this could result in damage to your amplifier and loudspeakers).

Applications: The Jamo Concert Series C 97 II floorstanding loudspeaker can be used for the front or rear channels in a home theater system, or stand alone in a strictly two-channel stereo system.

  • Placement Options: As front channels in a home theater setup or as a 2ch speaker system, the C 97 II should be positioned so the loudspeakers create an equidistant triangle between the speakers and your main listening position. They should be positioned no less than 6' apart. As rear speakers in a home theater setup, the speakers should be positioned directly to the left and right of your main listening position, or just behind the main listening position.
  • Mounting Options: The floorstanding speaker comes with four outrigger feet that screw into the bottom of the loudspeaker enclosure. Spikes are pre-installed in the outrigger feet to accommodate carpet flooring. The spikes can be removed and replaced by rubber pads for hardwood, tile, laminate, and vinyl flooring.
    • Dimensions w/ Outrigger Feet and Spikes: 9.75" (w) x 42.125" (h) x 15.8125" (d)
    • Dimensions w/ Outrigger Feet and Rubber Pads: 9.75" (w) x 42.125" (h) x 15.8125" (d)
Note: Do not use the speaker without the outrigger feet and the spikes or rubber pads installed. The outrigger feet add greater stability and aid in higher quality sound reproduction.

Jamo Concert 9 II Series: Jamo's new Concert 9 Series II loudspeakers feature high-quality drivers, deep bass with less distortion, and an updated minimalist design. The Concert 9 Series II consists of two floorstanding loudspeakers (C 95 II / C 97 II), two bookshelf loudspeakers (C 91 II / C 93 II), center channel loudspeaker (C 9 CEN II), and surround loudspeakers (C 9 SUR II).

Optional Power Subwoofer: Add one or two of Jamo's Concert 9 Series powered subwoofers (C 910 / C 912) for an even more immersive audio experience with bigger, deeper bass.

Q
can these speakers stay composed withe complex musical passage? Think Porcupine tree, Within temtation, The Dregs. Or is there a better option in this proce range?
jeff  Sep 25, 2020
1 answer
A
I just played Porcupine Tree Arriving Somewhere live and the Jamos sound excellent, handle it no problem. Good sounding group. Within temptation was a little more strident but I'm sure you could reduce the treble . I always listen in direct mode.

Q
Which driver arrangements are separated when bi-amping the c97 ii?

A
The two woofers are driven when bi-amping this speaker.
jeffrey  Oct 02, 2021
A
Jamo does not specify if the mid-range driver is being grouped with the high or low frequency section when bi-amping. They also do not list the crossover point. You can try reaching out to them directly to see if they are able to divulge that info 800-554-7724

A
Usually it separates the tweeter from the woofers but not sure in this case as I haven't tried it. It may be split between the midrange/ tweeter and the woofers. The owners manual has no info on the split, only shows biwiring.

Q
Is this a scratched or used item?

A
As of right now ( 8/7/2020) we have a single Open box outlet speaker. This is like new condition, but the packaging was unsealed. Full warrant, full return policy.

Q
Would this be a good match for a Yamaha A-S501 or is that not enough power? And then as a follow up question - it looks like I could bi-amp these using the both the AB's into the speaker terminals?
ryan  Sep 05, 2023
1 answer
A
The Yamaha A-S501 would be a great match to a pair of Jamo C 97 II's, Ryan. The Yamaha's 100-watt RMS output of high-current amplification is an excellent number to send to the Jamo's. Since the Yamaha is only a 2-channel amp, wiring by the way you describe above would be a bi-wire configuration, with no advantage wattage-wise. You can confidently choose to connect in a standard wiring configuration or how you describe in bi-wire configuration with excellent performance!
bo  Sep 06, 2023 (Staff)
Q
would a Marantz NR1200 be enough to power these?
jason  Jan 20, 2023
1 answer
A
That would be a pretty nice setup, Jason. The Marantz NR1200 Slimline does have a slim profile to slip into tight spaces, but don't let the size fool you. The NR1200 stereo receiver would provide 100-watts per channel into the 6-ohm Jamos. You of course have some extra headroom wattage wise on the Jamo speakers, but the warm, musical tone of the Marantz would be a great pairing!
bo  Jan 20, 2023 (Staff)
Q
Can I use a Denon AVR-X3800H for these speakers?
alex  Jan 01, 2023
1 answer
A
I see no reason why not, Alex. The Denon delivers 105-watts per channel and is right in the sweet spot of the RMS power handling on the Jamo Concert C 97 II's. Don't forget to add the matching C 9 CEN II center channel in the first link below and the matching bookshelves in the second link for rear surround channels for a great 5-channel home theater setup with the Denon! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_701C9IICWH/Jamo-Concert-9-Series-C-9-CEN-II-White-Oak.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_701C91IIWH/Jamo-Concert-9-Series-C-91-II-White-Oak.html
