Buy it, and but it here

Great smoker. Huge hopper allowed for 22-hour cook with no refilling of pellets (which would have been easy anyway thanks to great design). Consistent temp throughout. Perfect, tender, juicy pork was the result. Didn't really even need to pull it; just gave it a mean look, and it fell right apart. Have used at least a dozen times already (bought 2 months ago), and I love it. Great product! Additionally, bbqguys is only place to buy this stuff. First smoker came with some relatively minor damage. I let them know (email with a couple pics), and they shipped me a new one immediately with no questions asked. I buy all bbq-related stuff here now. Easy to get someone on phone when I have questions, and they're always super helpful and knowledgeable. Can't recommend enough.

Pro series vertical

I have a xl 1000 and a pro series 4 vertical. I use them both at least once or twice a week. Each has their own purpose. I like the vertical because it has a large water pan so I don't Have to wrap any meat. Also you can set temp lower to smoke without cooking . This is a big plus. It hold much more meat.

Going on my third year with my Series 3

I'm going on my third summer now with my Series 3 smoker. I live in Upstate New York, and because this is double walled, I can use it year round. I use my series 3 regularly, it's only a few times a week, that I'm not using it. I've baked, roasted, and smoked all kinds of dishes in my smoker. All sorts of meats and vegetables, lots of frittatas, and other concoctions of meat and egg pies, it's a very versatile, and reliable unit. I've recommended Pit Boss products to lots of people, friends, friends of friends. Everybody that's bought one has been extremely happy. I couldn't be happier.

I (edited) LOVE THIS SMOKER

From the time I received it to today, I love it. Even customer support is great. Part of my order did not get shipped for some reason but as soon as I called customer support took care of it and went over and above my expectations. No worries if you are thinking about ordering this as your next smoker.

Assembly was a dream!

Just bought several patio items and after struggling with assembly of some of the furniture items, we tackled this smoker. The instructions were clear, parts fit together properly, and all holes were drilled well. All that was required was a screwdriver. THANK YOU to the designers and manufacturers of this quality product.

Fantastic smoker!

I have this smoker for four or five months now and i have nothing negative to say about it. It makes a excellent smoke ring, i have cooked brisket, turkey, chuck roast, prime rib, almost countless racks of ribs, pork butt-shoulder. It is what I consider very frugal on pellet use. It maintains set temps within 15 degrees, no wild temp swings like some of the you-tubers complain about. It has an adjustable height smoke stack cap, use it the way it is intended for it's set temp and i have no issues. Super easy clean-up. Believe what you want on the you-tube reviews, some are good-great, but most just THINK they are experts, if you watch all of them you will see for yourself, their is a reason it won top smoker! I love it so much I recently bought the pro-series 1600 pellet grill to replace the last gas grill I will ever use. Now I have a top griller and top smoker!

  • Designed with sturdy materials

Things We Love

Temperature-control Features

You can’t have low-and-slow cooking without consistently low temperatures. That’s why the guys at Pit Boss designed their Copperhead Series pellet smokers with easy-to-use controls that let you pinpoint exact heat levels within the 150–450-degree temperature range. When you’ve got guests to entertain or food to prepare, there’s nothing better than the 10 temperature presets and startup and cooldown cycles found on the Copperhead smokers.

It’s when you’re cooking, though, that these features really shine. Several components of these Pit Boss smokers — the external heat indicator, included meat probe with digital LED readouts, and large viewing window — allow you to stay informed without opening the door and letting precious heat or smoke escape (the sturdy door latch deserves some praise, too). If you need to open the door to show off the goods or just want an extra boost of flavorful smoke, there’s also a prime function that burns a new batch of pellets with a 300-watt ignitor and fan-forced draft.

Durable & Efficient Design

At this point, you might be wondering why Pit Boss calls these smokers Copperheads. It has nothing to do with snakes (no judgement if smoked snake is on the menu at your next cookout) — instead, the name comes from the beautiful hammertone copper finish of these pellet cookers. Underneath that attractive finish is a cold-rolled, double-walled steel body with high-heat coating, giving Copperhead Series smokers the durability for years of cooking.

But Pit Boss also values an efficient smoking experience, so Copperhead models come with a slide-out grease tray and ash pan for simple cleanup. Moving the smoker around is even easier thanks to two front swivel caster wheels and two more in the rear that can lock into place. For those who’d like to give water-smoking a try, the included water pan can be filled with marinades or other liquids to provide extra flavor and moisture. Trust us, you’ll want to give it a try.

Large-capacity Hopper

Did we mention these pellet smokers can cook a whole bunch of food? The two Copperhead Series models have different pellet capacities and cooking areas, but the smaller 3 Series edition shouldn’t be overlooked. With the Pit Boss Copperhead 3 Series, you get 800 square inches of cooking space across four adjustable racks and a hopper that can hold up to 35 pounds and smoke for 18 hours. The Pit Boss Copperhead 7 Series, meanwhile, boasts 2,059 square inches of cooking area, six porcelain-coated racks, a 60-pound hopper, and a smoke time of up to 24 hours!

No matter which model you choose, the hopper has a side window to check fuel levels, a hinge door for quick refills, and a clean-out door to empty the pellets or change flavors. Just keep in mind that the Copperhead Series works best with Pit Boss pellets.

Things to Consider

If your goal is to smoke at low temperatures for an extended period of time without refilling your fuel, the Pit Boss Copperhead Series is a great option for you. But we know you may have more questions about these smokers, which is why our BBQ experts are standing by at 1-877-743-2269 to help you make the right decision.

Hi Ryan. Pit Boss limits this smoker to only using pellets and no other fuels.

Question:
Can this be used with a Flame Boss unit?
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Hi Grace. Flame Boss would be unnecessary for the Pit Boss Pellet Smoker. With pellet smokers, the temperature is set on the onboard controller.

Question:
Hello, can this smoker be unplugged once the pellets are ignited and start to burn or does it need to stay plugged in during the entire cooking time?
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
It needs to stay plugged in so the fan continues to feed the fire with oxygen, and when more pellets are needed to keep the temp up it turns the auger and ignites them with the ignition element.

Asked by JohnAnswered by hiya26

Answer:
If you unplug it will stop cooking

Asked by JohnAnswered by carlnkids

Answer:
Leave it plugged in the entire cook time. Otherwise the pellets will go out, and the smoker needs to continue to feed pellets as they burn up.

Asked by JohnAnswered by mark.grahn

Answer:
It has to stay plugged in for the entire cook, because the temperature fluctuates.

Asked by JohnAnswered by harrygoldsmithny

Answer:
Needs to stay plugged in, the ignitor, feed and fan need to run to maintain the temp and smoke

Asked by JohnAnswered by pro_techauto

Answer:
The smoker needs to stay plugged for the entire cook. Power is needed for the fan and auger to operate.

is the smoke level adjustable in this unit?

Hi AJ. You can use the "Prime" button, which adds extra pellets to the burn pot, giving an extra burst of smoke for a while. But there is no dedicated smoke setting other than the temperature dial.

When will my item arrive?

Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we’ve all come to expect for small parcels, so it’s important that you’re prepared and understand what’s required of you well before delivery day.

  • Most freight products ship on a pallet
  • Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
  • We’ll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.

For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:

Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can’t be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we’ve only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.

For carriers that deliver without an appointment:

Carriers that deliver without an appointment don’t require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren’t required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you’re home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you’re out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
