Solar Panel

I purchased this light one year ago. The light worked well for about 8-9 months and then it stopped working. When I went to troubleshoot and try to get it working again, I found water inside several compartments. Wires were rusted in two and there was no chance to repair the fixture. Only purchase this light if you plan to replace it within a year.

This light installs easily. Would be nice if the solar collector would rotate and swivel. The motion detector seems to work well. We use the light to view animals going through the yard at night. It does a good job of picking up small animals. Brightness is OK on the highest setting. About as expected. Light timing is off a bit - too short. On the longest setting we get about 15 seconds - not the 20 seconds indicated. Given the price point and ease of installation/use, this appears to have been a good buy.

I live in the country where it get's very dark at night - especially on a cloudy winter night. Our driveway slopes sharply not only towards the street, but on each side as well. My car's back-up lights are pretty useless. We mounted this light in a tree at the halfway point of the drive and it does a GREAT job of illuminating the driveway! It is also helpful on those nights I take the garbage out to the street.

I bought the 4 pack of these lights, at the start they all worked great, then after a month one of them just stopped working. I changed out the rechargeable battery, that got the light working for a night, but then it just stopped again. So I am not sure if it is the solar panel? I tried to return/exchange the light but Amazon said I was past the return window. Within 6 months another light stopped working because it was full of water. These are supposed to be water proof and they are all placed under the eaves of the house. Overall the lights are good, they put out bright light and cover a good area with light. Would have given the light 5 stars if no issues or if I was able to return/exchange. Instead 3 stars since only half the light are still working. If anyone else had the same problem with the light just stopping, please let me know if you were able to fix it.

Nice little light….now that I have it up there I like it. Very sensitive motion detector but it’s adjustable as to the area monitoring. Mine is right in the very corner of the house mounted underneath the eave. Just so happens, as is my luck, it overlooks the drive way, but to the right of it over on the fence line is my American flag fluttering away. Now to the left in the front yard is a 5ft. tall shrub swaying in the wind. First night it was up we had a severe storm roll in around midnight. Wind so strong I could hear the flag flapping all the way in the house. I got up and noticed the light coming on and off repeatedly. Went out in the rain with the ladder and brought the flag in. Still continued to come on and off…..ah, the shrub! Got up to the light and adjusted the motion eye away from all and it stopped. So by playing with it the next evening I used duct tape to create a blinder, much like for a horse, towards the flag. I don’t need motion detection that direction anyway and then adjusted the eye strictly into the driveway in the area of our parked Kia and the entire driveway. Works great now!!
Now about mounting…in order to get it up under the eave out of the weather I had to turn the unit upside…took some adjustments but I got there.
So don’t be like me…..just put it up and enjoy!

I had a purely solar powered security light, they're convenient and energy-efficient. But unfortunately, the location the light needed to be placed, it did not get enough sunlight to be constantly lit. A battery backup was needed.

This was within my price range and decided to try it out. It's actually quite bright and it does what i need it to do. Worth the price. Quality is good. nice thick plastic. And with the battery the light is always on.

This is an amazing motion detector light. It has a long range motion sensor and lights up a huge part of my yard, that is totally dark, normal. It has gotten rained on through cold, “tornado” type rain and snow and has held up perfectly. I highly recommend this product. I have tried 3 other motion type lights and they didn’t put out nearly enough light to be able to see my black lab, in the very back portion of my yard, which is about half an acre, where it used to be completely dark, before installing this light.

The one in question will come on during the day and when sun goes down everything shuts off even sensor light. it is being charged in direct sun light , the new battery that came with it. the operation lights come on to be set and lights up during the day and all go out at sun set. what can be the problem other than defective?

I put 2 D cells in before installing it and discovered that at night it would not stop a cycle of on-off after the first time it saw motion. I tried changing the settings but it kept cycling. I then thought of removing the 2 D cells (leaving the rechargeable lithium cell). That fixed the problem. Now it will have to rely on getting enough energy from the solar panel.
I wonder if the manufacturer ever tried this unit with primary cells (2 D cells) installed.
