Great docking station but power supply useless
Dell Thunderbolt docking station works perfectly. Exact match to my employer supplied item in office. Needed one at home for my new Dell laptop which didn’t work with my old Dell docking station ( not a Thunderbolt). Received quickly but power supply useless due to cord included. Not useable for any power outlet. Fortunately I was able to use my prior Dell docking station cord. Otherwise this would have had to be returned.

I purchased a Dell WD19TB Thunderbolt Docking Station with 180W AC Power Adapter (130W Power Delivery) for $179.99. I had the option of purchasing a used item for $97.02 but I wanted new. When the item arrived, the case was full of scratches and dings and all the ports had more than a little bit of dust in them. Clearly a used item. The power would not stay on so I called Dell. They said the unit was 4 year and 50 days old and past warranty. So I returned it. I got a replacement of the same type and it was also used. I am returning it. Nowhere did the item description clearly say it was used. I was under the impression it was new since Used units sell for $90 to $100 less.

I had a Dell WD15 dock I've used for several years with my 3 year old XPS13. The last 6 months I spent trying to replace the Dell with a Surfacebook 2, a couple HP Spectre X360's, and a couple Surface Pro 7's. But all went back due to my issues with docks and the multimonitor setup I need at my office. None worked with the WD15. I picked up the Surface Dock 2 for the last Surface Pro I tried, and that had its own issues. I had a Wavlink for the HP's, as well as a Belkin thunderbolt 3 dock, both had issues. So I decided to stick for now with my XPS13 and the old dock. But after all that testing, the old dock had issues with the displays being seen... So it was time to replace it.

I had hoped this would work just fine with my Dell, and for the most part, it does. The WD15 was rock solid with this, never an issue, but with this new one, I have had a few times I've had to power cycle the dock to get it to work again. Firmware is updated on it, but a few times when I plugged it in, I had no monitors, and a pop up warning on the computer saying that despite being plugged in my laptop wasn't charging because there wasn't enough power. Considering the size and output of the power supply, I found that a bit annoying.

But mostly it works, about 95% of the time.

There is a slight fan noise once in a while but it's usually lost in the ambient noise of the office space here.

One of my favorite parts on it is the USB C power delivery cable, since it's more flexible than just about any other dock I've had. So it bends around and I don't have issues lining things up easily for where my laptop is positioned on the desk. Even the WD15 dock was a much stiffer cable and had to be in a specific spot so the cable would reach correctly where it had to go.

I've got one 4k monitor off the display port, and a 27" QHD monitor off the HDMI. And other than a couple random points where they weren't seen at plugin, they seem to be fine.

It's a bit pricey compared to the alternatives, but after all the issues I've had messing with docks lately, I just wanted something that would let me use things again and not spend all my time troubleshooting like the Wavlink one I tried.

Well, I hate to bring this information to you, but the attachments to your computer are once again being changed to be very small like the one for your cell phone and there are only 4 of them and a card aperture. So if you have the old popular flat connectors they will not fit with your new $4000 Dell Computer, which is a wonderful product with wonderful support and amazing features to customize to your own taste, but if you are like me, you are inundated with the old flat, long connectors who also need a home, and because of that need you need this docking station. Additionally, the docking station has a place for the Ethernet cable and some other accoutrements, not to mention that with my lap top will completely blackout if it connected for too long to the portable charger, which means that I have to hold down the start button for a count of 25 seconds and then call for Dell service intervention to reconfigure it, one must have a docking station if you want to make sure that you have a full charge all the time, until such time as you want to move it or take it with you elsewhere, because this docking station will meter the charge and not overcharge the computer to forestall the problem in the first place. This is the only Docking Station that can be used with my: Device name DESKTOP-6RVFLFK

I purchased this dock instead of a cheaper one for the express intent of being able to keep my work laptop closed on a shelf under my desk. Powering up via the switch works fine, but driver support on Linux is less than awesome, so I typically have to pull out my laptop and open and close the lid (sometimes more than once) to get the system to use the external monitor exclusively. It can take several seconds for the screen to show on my external monitor, like maybe 10-15 seconds sometimes. I also had to use a Windows laptop to get the drivers updated. And occasionally the Ethernet port doesn't enumerate at start up and I have to unplug and replug the Thunderbolt connector a couple times to get it to come up. I assume these issues are less prominent with Windows, but haven't really tried beyond initial setup. ... O, and I also selected this one rather than a newer model due to the removal of the audio connector on all the newer ones.

My laptop is a Dell 7440 (13th Gen i7 with Intel integrated GPU) running Ubuntu 22.04 LTS

La primer semana que probé las bocinas me parecieron buenas, incluso me pareció que dejaban un poco que desear.., sin embargo, les comento que las tenía conectadas directamente a una laptop, y después de que decidí probar el mini jack de un dock que recién adquirí (Dell WD19TB) y ohh sorpresa, el sonido mejoró bastante, tanto en volumen, como en bajos (ahora sí los sentí"..) y mucha más fidelidad en los tonos altos y medios, por lo que les recomiendo que las conecten en una tarjeta de sonido dedicada (tal vez en las PC's y/o en alguna que otra lap ya tenga el poder necesario por default"), verán que mejoran bastante, en mi caso, supongo que el dock le aporta más potencia. En fin, las recomiendo 100%, si buscan un 2.0 de escritorio (sin un cajón super grande en tus pies), con un estilo retro, pero moderno y de alta calidad, ésta es una excelente opción.

I wanted to get this docking station since I purchased my i9 Dell XPS. I faced trouble to use only one HDMI port and then use an apple USB-C to HDMI converter cable to attach yet another screen. Then I had to find a port to attached my Focusrite microphone. Keyboard and mouse needed another port.
But with this docking station as the problem vanish in a go.

Do not buy from the seller PRINCE IT WORLD. Complete waste of money. They will first ship a defected product, then make you wait for a week to first collect the item and then send the replacement. I have doubts if my replacement will work. but I can only hope.
