Ever just take a chance and buy something that is really inexpensive that should solve a problem, but by the price you know you will probably regret resulting low quality doing that? Not with SSP Eyewear! Had a bad day at the pistol range. Took me a few minutes to realize in the dark indoor range that I couldn't properly see my front sight - getting old. Readers helped me do that, but killed my vision off my front sight. Pain. Tried these built in readers from SSP. A small square section of magnification at the top of the lens where you align eyes to aim, to your reader magnification power), and the rest of the frame is clear. Worked like a charm. And inexpensive. Great for safety glasses too! Wear them in my shop to read a tape, then look at the machine without magnification. Clear, amber, and sunglass lens have taken me in all lighting. Rare to buy something that actually solves your problem while not costing much. Glad I took a chance on these.

If you have an astigmatism read this

I'm not an ophthalmologist so maybe put this in the category of "don't try this at home" or "use your own best judgment". I purchased the top bifocal kit with hopes of being able to see my front sight well. Well, it was awful. I called SSP and they suggested a stronger bifocal - still bad. I just happened to put the SSP glasses over my normal glasses, I actually thought it was going to be even worse - how bad can I make it, was what I was thinking, but my front sight came into tack-sharp focus. My thought now is that you first have to correct for the astigmatism then the bifocal on the SSP can do its job. This is the part where you need to use your own judgment before proceeding: So what I did was glue a pair of old single vision lenses onto the SSP frames (back far enough that I can still swap the SSP lenses) with some epoxy. They now work great. They do take a little getting used to but my front sight is super sharp, I have wrap-around safety glasses and I was only out the $5 for the epoxy.

These glasses arrived today and I took them to the range. These glasses are awesome. As I've aged, like many people, I have to wear reading glasses. The bifocal at the top of these lenses is positioned perfectly for my pistol shooting. I can acquire the front sight quickly. I just wish the bifocal area was slightly taller. That being said, the cost of these glasses makes them a very good solution for those of us that need readers, but not full prescription lenses. I highly recommend these glasses.

Not sure how they could make these better given the issue. I've been shooting IDPA in these for a year. Shoot, run, shoot more etc. They work perfectly during the shooting part and allow me to focus on the front site very well. They've allowed me to improve greatly and remain competitive as I've gotten older. While the magnification is perfectly placed for shooting, leaving them on is tough as it's like trying to talk to someone with reading glasses on. Everything beyond 3 feet is slightly out of focus. The solution is either swap your glasses for another pair when not shooting or tilt your head back a little. Not really a flaw just something you should know going in. As another reviewer said if you're in doubt go with the lighter magnification. I typically use 1.5 magnification but purchased these in 1.25 and they're perfect. 1.5 would be too much and would make it more difficult to focus on distant targets.

I ordered two sets of these glasses. As an older person as usual, things get blurry. So, my husband suggested a top focal. (He is going dim as well) Anyway, I spotted these and said, What the heck. I will give them a shot! I got the glasses and of course my husband was thrilled (he needed the focal too). So, off to the gun range we went. For us, they worked great! I love being able to change out the lenses, due to lighting and such. Being able to see the front sight without tilting my head back was great. My husband stated he was really happy I found these. He really enjoyed being able to see that front sight. (Now if I can just find glasses to make me look thinner instead of going and working out!) 😁 Have a Blessed one!

I was all excited about this product from the first time I saw it. The idea seems very sound. I'm 63 now and my eyes are not what they were. Let me start off by saying I do hunt and shoot often and the sights on my guns are not that visible to me anymore. I have started waring just 1 contact in my dominant eye. This has given me close and distant vision now. Seems to work find for me. I was really looking forward to these glasses. What I noticed is they work pretty well shooting handguns. Not so well for rifles. Mind you I'm talking iron sights. No optics. You don't need these but for the safety glass part if you are using any optics on your handgun or rifle. Like I said they seem to work find for my with a handgun. I can see my site picture pretty good after I got used to these. For a rifle they just don't seem to work that well for me, but like I said the single contact in my dominant eye has the rifle covered. I only gave 3 stars because again I'm still working on getting used to using them with a handgun and they are no use to me with a rifle. The price is pretty good so if you need some help with seeing your sights it's worth it to try them. They may be wonderful for someone else. I hope they are because when your eyes start to give you problems, any little bit of help is great.

This product delivers exactly what the manufacturer claims. These are not prescription glasses. What they are is a new concept to me. The Bifocal is on the top portion of the lens leaving the remaining (lower) area clear. This completely solves the problem one discovers when shooting with traditional Bifocals. You will no longer need to tip your head at unnatural angles to see clearly. The construction is good and the side pieces are slender enough to fit under Shooting Muffs with little disruption of the Muff - to - Head sound seal. SSP states in their materials that it will take the average person some time to adjust to the new Eye, lens, Sight alignment and I found this to be the case. After several trips to the Range I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend them to any shooter who currently uses some sort of “Reader”.

I followed SSP directions for ordering the proper corrective lenses and it worked out perfect, shooting my pistols now is awesome no more tilting my head back to see through my progressive bifocals, a simple slight tilt forward and I have full clear view of my sights through the top focal, bonus that you get three different colour lenses for all shooting conditions, have had several other people try my glasses at the range and they were sold, also if I pick up my pistol with red dot I look through the clear part of the lens, same with my scope I don't need magnification for that, rifle iron sights, look through top focal, crystal clear.

These worked great for rifle shooting, my right eye could focus on the front sight! My groups improved significantly. the only problem was half my shots were on the wrong target! Since my left eye was also looking through a corrective lense I couldn't see the target numbers. Is it possible to get a plain clear lense for my left eye? I would be willing to buy both left and right lenses :-)

I really like the concept and the glasses work very well. I believe there are improvements to be made with these glasses. If I’m a right eye dominant shooter, my left eye should be looking ahead toward the target thus the ‘top focal’ of the left lens is now a hindrance to my left eye. The solution is to have a regular left lens with no ‘top focal’. This can be done if the shooter is left eye dominant…. just reverse the lenses.
