There is a strap sewn in the the inside of the pocket, at the top. The rear sight of the revolver hangs up on the lip of this strap when drawing. Holster therefore had to take a trip to the dumpster.

Not leather but plenty tuff to last this old man's woods wanderings. I bought a vintage Ruger single-six at a flea market (a 4 click gun) and I needed a holster. I need not worry about bluing wear now with the perfect fit. This old Ruger has a 99% finish so that was my biggest concern re. a new holster.

It holds my revolver (.22 Heritage Rough Rider) but I had to cut off the layer over the velcro in order to use the tie down strap, the gun sits too low in it because it's open on the bottom and the barrel protrudes, and the belt loop opening is very small and tight for a standard belt.

So, not a great holster, but it does hold the gun, so I gave it three stars, maybe two would have been more accurate.

Initially I did not trust an inexpensive feeling nylon holster to handle my full size Ruger Blackhawk for very long, but once I figured out how to set it up for cross draw at 10 o'clock position it is now my go to for EDC. The snap on the retention strap will require a little breaking in, but is fine once you do. It splits the difference between a thumb break and a leather hammer thong, but with practice you can unsnap it with the left hand and draw while cocking the hammer with the right. Don't make the mistake of leaving it unsnapped, because there is no friction holding your gun in without the strap. I almost had a spill in a store once, which would have had particularly undesirable consequences in NY. In spite of operator error the product is great in rotation for EDC. At this price I'll be ok with having to replace it if it doesn't last forever.
