Product Description

Osprey’s Farpoint 80 is the right size for a long trip when you need one pack to transport everything from the airport to the back of beyond. Go ahead and fill it up. The LightWire frame suspension transfers the load from harness to hipbelt. A mesh backpanel improves ventilation and the mesh on the harness and hipbelt reduces chafing under load. The entire suspension stows away under a zippered panel creating a sleek silhouette for transport. Unzip the lockable sliders to access the main compartment. Inside there’s a mesh pocket for small items. A compartment with floating divider allows separate storage options and dual compression straps keep cargo from shifting during transit. Outside the pack, you’ll find a zippered front panel slash pocket to keep you organized and sewn attachment points to add extra gear. No matter how much you choose to carry, StraightJacket compression straps stabilize the load. There are also loops to anchor an optional Osprey Daylite® daypack if you would like the convenience of a small satellite pack for short forays.

Only if you are 6’ + tall and a man!

Only if you are 6’ + tall and a man!
I read a review from a 5‘2“ woman who said she used this pack all around Europe. I highly doubt that could be true. I ordered this backpack and sent it back the same day. I am a 5‘1“ female. There is no way to adjust the shoulder straps to the right height (even with tightening straps), they are not movable! and the top of the pack is over my head when on my back - and the hip belt is nowhere near my hips - it is lined up with the crotch area! Omg seriously if you are a man who is 6 foot tall or taller this pack may work for you otherwise this is definitely not going to work. Additionally this backpack ends up being so large if you actually had this filled, it would be extremely painful to carry and very bulky and awkward. There is not much in the line of organization either you will definitely need to use packing cubes. I also did not like how old the bottom pocket has a weird divider which you cannot remove (at the top of the bottom pocket) which is a separation from the main large pack - it is just a very strange design which I did not care for. This is overall not suitable for anybody under 6 feet tall.Still searching for a backpack that will work. I don’t think it truly exists! I hope Osprey will read my review regarding the Ozone 60L women’s backpack and take notes.

Awesome pack, got it for a great price that was a good $60 below the store price at REI.

Borderline too large for camping: probably opt for one of the smaller sizes unless you are playing pack muel for your family and have to carry extra stuff to make your kids packs lighter.

I got this pack for travel instrad of camping: the Zip up compartment fof the straps is really useful for making sure your straps don't get damaged at the baggage claim and the typical guy can pack enough clothes for a week (or two) vacation without having to strech the seams..

For size reference: you can stick 2 full sized pillows inside (not squished and then hard packedin; just put them inside and zipped it up) without straining the zipper.

I'll probably shop for something from the same brand when I need a new (smaller) pack.

Wow! This pack was a lifesaver for our honeymoon; my husband (who is 6'5") said that the compression straps were very comfortable!
We spent two weeks in Thailand and had plenty of room for clothes, a pair of shoes, and every souvenir we brought back! Fully packed with clothes, we met the 40 lb limit for the airline exactly. This pack has fantastic zippered compartments that make packing much easier.

The backpack was great. It fit 7 sets of clothes and a jacket and I still had extra room for other stuff. The waist belt help with the weight bearing of the backpack which makes it much easier to carry a 50 lbs load. I would recommend others to buy if you need to take a trip to Europe or Asia for more than a week. In my opinion, I think it is much better than a rolling carry on luggage.

My son was on a study abroad and used this bag primarily for long weekend trips (although he even used it for a week long trip). It was the perfect size, loved everything about it (lightweight, comfortable, great pockets and storage, durable). A bag he'll enjoy for years to come.

Pretty decent backpack for traveling. I'm 6'8" and about 200 lbs and the frame of the backpack fit me pretty well. It's lighter than other packs, which is nice because that means you can pack more things and stay under 50lbs when flying. Lockable zippers on the main compartment are nice and the additional pockets throughout the rest of the pack. Attach points for the daylite day pack are also a nice feature. My only real knock on with the pack is the lack of lumbar support and the chest strap. The pack doesn't contour to your spine well, which can get kinda uncomfortable after a while. The chest strap is adjustable but it still sits too high on your chest. Instead of sitting across the middle of your chest, it rides up to your collarbone. Overall a very good pack, just has a few flaws to keep it from being perfect.

Writing this after my 2 week trip backpacking. I'd still give it 4/5 stars but wanted to explain how it performed. The only negative thing about this back after using it for 2 weeks is that the backpack strap broke on day 1 at the airport. Other than that, this pack worked wonderfully. I was able to use the grab handles to move it around. Everything else worked perfectly, I even ran into another backpacker with the same pack and they loved theirs as well.

It's expensive but it's the best pack, by far, I've ever bought. I ask that Osprey gives more color combination options and also adds triple the current stitching just to make it unbeatable. I love Osprey gear.

I already like this so much better than my 50L duffle bag.

If you're looking for a backpack like this to use for a trip this worked great. Haven't used it on a plane for carry on.

Has a lot of great pockets inside and outside the bag. The wet pocket also came in handy.

Just an overall great product from Osprey.

This bag did not disappoint on a 18 day European vacation. I packed it full and stayed under the 50Lb. max. The straps made it easy to navigate narrow streets and staircases. Zipping them away made checking the bag worry-free! I love this bag and plan on putting it through more trips in the next few years!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfekter Rucksack für Reisen

Brilliant quality backpack, bought this to take with me to Australia & travelling. Much easier than taking a suitcase, my only recommendation would be if you are going travelling this particular bag might be a bit too big to take on buses etc. so one of the smaller Osprey farpoint products may be better suited.

The bag fits a lot of stuff in with a wide array of pockets, dividers and various sections etc. Opens up wide for easy access. I also bought the Daylite rucksack which attaches to the front of this bag.
