Product Description

Have you ever wondered what the best way to stay hydrated is while enjoying a whole day outdoors? The Oasis 1200 by TETON Sports comes with a leakproof 3-Liter hydration bladder and is thoughtfully designed with plenty of room for all the gear you want to keep handy. Rehydrate easily—wherever your adventure may take you. The Oasis 1200 hydration pack is a 20-Liter backpack designed to fit close to the body and weighs only 2.45 pounds unfilled. You can adjust the shoulder, chest, or waist straps to get a custom fit. It comes in a variety of colors and includes features normally seen on more expensive packs such as a shock absorbing chest strap, built-in safety whistle, and reflective trim. This super comfortable pack includes a thick air mesh back panel with 1/2” foam pads that fit tightly to minimize bounce. Shoulder straps have comfort-taped mesh with a notched foam stabilizer. The Oasis 1200 includes a free 3-Liter hydration bladder with a large opening to make cleaning easy. You will want to wash your bladder before your first use: Rinse out your bladder and hose with lemon juice or soap and warm waters—then let your bladder dry out completely before reassembling it. You may need to prop the bladder open with paper towels to allow it to dry completely. Once it is dry, reassemble it. Be sure to tighten the hose at the base of the bladder—the O-ring gasket needs to sit down into the receiver so it can seal properly--this will prevent leaking. The kink-free sip tube is lightweight, but durable and the cushioned bite valve is easy to open or close: simply pull the mouth piece to open it and push it closed when you’re done drinking. To avoid drinking warm water, remember to drain the hose before you take your next sip. This can be done by blowing the water back into the bladder after each use. To lengthen the life of your hydration bladder: • Only use water in the bladder—acidic juices, alcohol, or milk will promote growth and corrosion • This bladder should not be exposed to temperatures over 120°F or under 0°F • After every use, thoroughly clean the bladder, tube, and valve with a, detergent • Avoid prolonged exposure to UV light • And keep your bladder away from sharp objects

August 5, 2017. Updated review. I've upped my review from 2 stars to 5/5. Teton's customer support is excellent. They responded within 24 hours and shipped me a new bladder. Unfortunately the new bladder had the same problem. However, I discovered a simple solution. Remove the rubber bite piece at the end of the tube where you suck water from. While the slit doesn't have a blockage and there's nothing inside the bite piece/cover that seems to have any type of obstruction, this piece does in fact stop water from coming up the tube. Once your remove it, water flows freely from the bladder down/up the tube and into your mouth. I've attached a photo of the problem part. Great day pack and hydration system (I've already taken it on 3 long hikes). Teton just needs to design a different mouthpiece/cover for the tube. The backpack gets 10/10. The hydration bladder does not and gets a 1/10. The 1 is only because the bladder doesn't leak. While the bladder does not leak, you can't get hardly any water out of the bladder to the point where it is unusable. Even when the bladder is outside of the back pack the same problem exists. Also, there was a very nasty taste, not just plastic, coming from, from what I could get out of the bladder, water. The nasty taste was not a soapy taste so it's not from the mild soap I uses. I followed instructions and cleaned both the inside of the bladder and the tube with warm water and mild liquid soap prior to use. Liquid soap we've been using on a regular basis and have also used on other brands of bladders. Thoroughly rinsed everything. Let fully dry. Filled the bladder with water from our home filtered water pitcher. Tested the whole system on a 2 hour hike. After the hike and while at home I double checked the bladder water system. Water comes up the tube when you suck on the bite piece but pretty much stops there. I unscrewed the tube from the bladder. No blockages anywhere either from the bladder or the tube. A tiny, very tiny bit of water comes through the tube when you use the system but then it stops. You can get a bit more water out of the system if you blow really hard down the mouthpiece/tube back into the bladder. But then it stops again. The bladder doesn't leak. Great. But if you can't get any water out of it, it's useless. Don't understand why Teton doesn't do their own tests. It's immediately apparent what the problem is. Am looking for a replacement bladder.

Such a great backpack for a long day hike! I was debating between this and the 1100 along with a bunch of other brands, and I'm really happy with this pack overall. There is a lot of feedback about the quality of the bladder -- to be clear, it is not a high end bladder that is going to last forever and be able to take a beating, but for the price, it is better than you would expect. the valve is a little clunky, it's not a bite valve, but does give a steady stream of water which is actually kind of nice if you have a dog and want to be able to just pour in a bowl.... I have another bladder that requires a bite and pull so I always have to pack a separate bottle just for my dog. The bladder is super easy to fill and has a nice threaded closure so it won't leak. Plus, if you are really concerned you can always upgrade the bladder later as the cost of the bag alone is still a good deal.

In terms of storage, I'm able to fit the following with still room to spare:

Light jacket, long sleeve shirt, medium sized first aid kit, normal sized lunch box (that has lunch for 2-3 people), a full 3-liter bladder, extra dog food, additional water bottle, and there is still plenty of room for other necessities.

The quality of the backpack is really nice and has a good assortment of small and large pockets to keep things organized. The waist pockets are also nice for putting phones, chap-sticks, etc. so you can access them easily.

Great purchase -- wish they had some more color options in the 1200 other than black and blue as I am definitely interested in getting another one for my boyfriend, but would prefer to have something other than black.

We ordered this backpack for a hiking trip in the South American Andes. We are using porters so we knew that a smaller pack would work great & didn't want the extra weight of a larger pack.

We received the Teton and pre-packed it to gauge usage and all items fit well: (2) extra t-shirts, (1) extra long sleeve, (1) fleece, (3-4) snacks, phone, wallet, passport, etc. We were concerned how 2L of water AND the items we needed would fit. And, the Teton didn't fit the male & female hikers the same way, regardless of the adjustments allowed by this pack.

We decided to upgrade to an Osprey Manta 34, Tempest 30 and Mira 32; returning the Teton. However, the upgrade was a personal choice & no reflection on the quality of the Teton. For a dayhike, we would have kept the Teton, but simply needed something with more room than originally planned for our trip. And yes, the price point was significantly different when jumping to an Osprey. And, we needed the custom fit associated with the Osprey too, given the rugged hike.

This really was a great bag and happy to rate it based on our needs. The color was pretty vibrant too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great bag, leaky water sack
Reviewed in Canada on June 14, 2020
I love this bag for hiking. It's so comfortable, and has great storage options for hiking nerds who carry stuff like me "Go pro, food, clothes, knives, etc).

I wasn't crazy about the color, but the blue and grey was all they had. And hey it's on my back anyway.

I tried the included water bag once and hated it. It leaked at the connection point, and was very hard to get open and closed. Maybe I was using it wrong, but I prefer to use good old water bottles anyway, and the side pouches on the bag are plenty big enough for 1 litre bottles.

I found it a tad expensive at $71 Canadian, but now that I have it, it's my go to day hike bag. The quality of the material is strong, and doesn't feel cheap.

I've used it a dozen times, and even loaded with full fishing gear, including a camping chair packed inside of it. Love the bag.

The bag is great. Really comfy and lots of compartments. Nice touch adding the waterproof cover aswell.

Only thing i will say that is bad. When drinking water from the water bladder it tastes like plastic. But i didn't buy the bag for that so that is why i still give 5 star.

Update. Used it twice and then found a rip along a zip been sent a replacement so see how that goes. But its down to 4 star now.

4.0 out of 5 stars Buena relación precio/calidad
Reviewed in Mexico on August 30, 2019
