I am not a stupid person, but when I was initially trying to figure out how to open the portion that attaches the mount to the headrest, I had a difficult time. You have to remove the cover ono the top and use your finger to push the flat metal disk with the rod running through it to the front side of the unit and then you can separate the part for the headrest and attach the unit. Now, got that figured out. That is the only time you will ever need to remove the plastic cover. The compartment below the plastic cover does nothing else. So, on to step 2. Attach the mount to the holder. Easy. Then attach your tablet to the mount. You just pull the adjustable side out enough to cover your tablet and you have that accomplished. Then you can rotate your tablet by turning the mounted tablet. And if you want to adjust the view, you push down. It is a very small adjustment but enough to make it easier for a shorter child to see. Of course, unless your seat is pushed back far enough, they may not be able to touch the tablet. Now, I have another great use for this too. I have a girl that likes to play video games on the pc and she likes to record a video as she goes. Her contraptions for supporting her tablet involved breaking a glass decanter filled with artificial fruit pieces. This will do the job perfectly for her so she will love this in the car or out of the car.
