Lenovo should be ashamed.
1 Star
Lenovo should be ashamed.
Absolutely horrible product all around.1) The i5 processor "detunes" itself to 600MHz as soon as you need anything processor intensive, causing lag and stuttering. It performs worse than a netbook I own that has an old Atom processor. You can't watch HD video. Advancing PowerPoint slides results in a 1 - 2 second delay (!).2) It uses plastic, weak components. The proprietary USB / charging port stopped making a solid connection after 8 months under gentle use. Replacing the motherboard is the only way to fix it.3) The screen does not sit in the base solidly and can fall out or rock easily. This makes it almost impossible to use on your lap.4) The keyboard is too small and has none-standard key positions on the top row. After months of use, I still make a lot of typing mistakes and cannot adapt.Don't be fooled by the specs or the 2 in 1 form factor. Do not buy the Miix 2 11 at any price or with any configuration.

An almost perfect Surface Pro 3 replacement.

11.6" is almost an impossible size to describe. The screen is quite bright (even in sun, provided you aren't reflecting the sun), details are sharp (no color bleed-through), and quite quick at 120 frames per second.

The SSD is a Samsung 128GB NAND, and is incredibly quick! From power on to Windows Logon, is maybe 3-4 seconds.

The RAM is a speedy 1333Mhz.

The CPU is a full Haswell (4th gen) i5, and with it's "turbo" function can clock from 1.6Ghz (or lower, depending on use) up to 2.0Ghz. If you are pushing it hard, the rear cover can get a bit hot, but the cooling fan for the CPU/GPU (single chip) at full power is still barely audible. Processing time is not desktop speed, but for mobile photo editing and such, it is a perfectly usable system.

The build is very nice and solid. I've bumped it around a bit with no scars or cracks. The keyboard module (which, really, is an accessory) is not built quite as well, and can creak or pop if it is not on a level surface (e.g. "lap"), but seems durable that it will do the job. The magnetic attachment isn't as strong as Microsoft's method, but in general this won't cause issues. Closed up, the magnets hold it tightly in place.

One thing it seems other reviewers missed, there is one USB 3.0 port! It is also the power charging port, so this can be a little troubling (low battery, but need the socket for data), but it is there, and it performs well. The keyboard dock's USB 2.0 provide enough power for a USB disk burner, which was a pleasant surprise.

The screen was off in spectrum (slightly yellow) but with a bit of work with the Intel video driver that was easily corrected, and this is as accurate as my desktop. Touch by finger is quite accurate, but I recommend a passive capacitive stylus if you need touch control a lot, just for neatness. A microfiber cloth is also recommended, to keep the screen clean.

Audio on the tablet was loud enough to shock me, given the size of the speakers, and the sound is very clear. However, it has ZERO bass, cut mids, and mostly highs (treble) were the most audible. The keyboard dock has additional speakers that fill in the mids, and help with the bass... still "laptop-y", but quite usable. The reversible dock also means you can set this up as a media device with all speakers facing forward.

The 2-cell battery was a worry, but I'm getting easy 3-4 hour runs from it, and if use is dropped (like just reading web text, email, etc.) it can it 5-6 hours easily. Definitely long enough for my needs. The USB type charger provides 20V (not the normal 5V USB is rated at), and charges the battery quite quickly, under an hour. My only worry is that a kid will plug the charging cable into one of their devices, and KABOOM! So when I disconnect the tablet, I unhook the power cable and hide it!

The only real con is that this tablet does not have an active stylus digitizer built into the display. Microsoft had Wacom built in to their version 1 and 2 devices, and swapped to NTrig for version 3 (and 4?), and initially I didn't see the need (especially given that this was HALF of the cost of a comperable Surface Pro 3). However, playing around with it with a JaJa stylus worked quite well (this stylus has it's own supplemental driver, allowing pressure sensitivity and palm rejection), but with the YuFu (JaJa's replacement) Bluetooth stylus coming up for release, I'm fairly certain that this tablet will be able to handle everything I need.

I bought this as a replacement for an aging laptop, and was excited by the balance of specs and price for a device from Lenovo, who have an excellent reputation for producing high quality hardware.

The computer portion of this device (the tablet) is great. It is fast, responsive, and has a brilliant display. Even higher pixels per inch would be nice, but battery life would likely suffer. I am one of the minority who really likes Windows 8, and it is so natural to go from keyboard to touchscreen and back. Many times, I will use the Metro-style apps because they are easier and more intuitive. I really like not having to go to the desktop all the time. On the other hand, my old desktop apps run great (with the exception of a couple that won't run on anything post-XP). The RAM really is 4 GB, the SSD is 128 GB, and I have added a 64 GB micro SD card. My machine actually came with a slot for a micro SIM card, which I have not tried out, along with some phone software from Lenovo. It can actually work as an 11.6" phablet! The charging port on the tablet is a USB port that also serves as a USB connector for external hard drives, etc. I have not tested it with a DVD burner, so I don't know if it has adequate power output. I believe it is USB 2, not USB 3.

The tablet sits nicely in the keyboard, and the fixed angle is fine. The keys on the board are good, but the function keys need an additional key press, which is a bit weird and hard to adapt to if you are used to doing keyboard shortcuts (like Alt-F4 to exit).

Now the not so good part. The keyboard only works as a basic keyboard. Virtually every touchpad made in the past 6-8 years has some drivers to allow special gestures, and within the past 3 years or so, multi touch scrolling (i.e. 2 finger scrolling) has been supported. Windows 8 devices universally incorporate the Win8 edge gestures on the touchpad. This keyboard touchpad has zero special touch capabilities. It can tap to click, but that's it. Lenovo has not been helpful, and they have not come up with any drivers to enable multi touch.

Because the keyboard limits the laptop functionality, this otherwise great computer gets only 3 stars.

By far one of the best 2 in 1 tablet PC's on the market. I love windows 8(gaspppp i know) but only on a touch screen device. this is the perfect size. I first ran across this Miix 2 at work where we sell the i3 version but i wanted a little more power so I opted for the i5 odel instead. glad i did as its just right in terms of power for what i need. this is great for someone who wants a tablet but can still o all the functions of a laptop pc. Ive installed office on here and haven't touched my normal laptop in 3 weeks except to pull some music off the harddrive. battery is nice. main issue ould be that the detachable keyboard is nowhere on the same tier as the tablet itself. it Isnt backlit and the track pad is a tad small. my only request is that Lenovo release a Keyboard that can be purchased seperatly. Other than that is slick and gorgeous. Itas all the ports you need, hdmi, usb, sim card and sd card. boots up fast with the solid state. its one of the best if not the best in its tier of 2n1 hybrids

for me it is very bad so i'm retunrning it...i just bought a HP pavillion x360 and so far it's much better...
