I would like to echo the review by Mr. McGibblets. I too am a sucker for special edition controllers and he is right - it does look better in person.

I thought that the twistable D-pad was a gimmick at first, but I have actually found that I prefer the center 4 directions in the raised position. The D-pad still operates as a "floating disk" - that is to say that one can still press it to the northeast instead of only north or only east. If the other D-pad directions are available in a game (ie. northeast, northwest, southeast, and southwest), the raised configuration does aide one in pressing the pad in the right direction.

The graphics on the controller itself are not glossy like the Special edition Halo Controllers (
Xbox 360 Wireless Halo 3 Spartan Controller ) and their texture is reminiscent of the matte black xbox controller. Also, instead of the raised thumbstick texture, Microsoft decided to go with a concave center using the same rubbery texture which I also believe is an improvement.

For the first few days, the right thumbstick was squeaking rather loudly whenever it was moved. This was very annoying once I noticed it. After a few days of use, however, the squeak went away. I just had to break it in.

Overall, this controller looks great and fulfills every expectation.

My parents play MW3. They are both around 50 years old. Dad is good, Mom is... I don't see how that's relevant. BACK OFF MY MOM! For a long time, part of her handicap on the game was using Dad's hand-me-down controllers that he would replace as the joysticks started to wear out. As my mother sits in the corner with an LMG doing the "spray and pray" routine, this was enough for a while. She was playing with the boys, and she was happy. As her skill started to improve, she decided she wanted a controller that was brand new, just for her, and off limits to the vices that my father passes off as hands. Because she wanted to keep it to herself it had to look distinctive, and since this was around Christmas I passed on having to come up with an original idea and got her the MW3 controller and matching headset. It's an Xbox 360 controller made by Microsoft, and it functions just like every other one on the planet. The heads of the joysticks are shaped a little different and the d-pad is the new adjustable type but as far as the mechanics of it goes there is nothing new here.

But it is SO PRETTY! Don't let the picture fool you into thinking that the skin job is "just awesome." This thing is gorgeous. If I were single and this controller were a woman I would repeatedly take it out to eat fancy seafood in public places where I could watch men and women drool alike over the awesomeness across the table from me. This controller is that pretty. The underside is black, the graphics are just on the top, and that really doesn't matter; as my mom sits in her living room redefining "low man on the totem pole," she is doing so with the sweetest looking controller made for any system I have ever seen.

Yes I know the description on this said used but I didn't think it meant used to the point of being a piece of trash paperweight. The controller was in such bad condition I won't even be able to use it, several of the buttons don't work, the controller was filthy and sticky, the battery pack was even broken to the point it won't even clip in it just falls off, just all around bad but at least I got it to match the console I have just won't be able to use it, so whatever, just a partially wasted 60 dollars

Well, it was the wrong controler, i wanted the modern warfare 3 controler, but i got the Halo 4 controler instead. But i am happy with it none the less. It works better than my old one. So everything is all good.

This controller is similar to the silver one with the play and charge kit & "transforming" D-pad - it has the grippy circles on the ends of the thumb sticks rather than the old 4 dot design, which I've found easier to play shooters with sensitivity set higher on.

Unlike the silver controller the back is a very textured matte black and the MW3 design on the top isn't slick like the tops of all of the other limited edition controllers. It's actually quite a bit easier to hold on to than any of the other 360 controllers I've tried since release day and includes the switchable d-pad. I purchased it since my silver one's right trigger stopped working every time I pulled it and find it to be ideal after playing Skyrim, MW3 & a bit of Battlefield 3 with it throughout the day, due to it being a lot less slippery.

I imagine this one would be good for people who's hands sweat when they play, though I can't say for certain as mine don't - it just seems to me that a less slippery controller would be better in that situation.

Ive had several wireless 360 conrollers . All of them were the 'old' style. You know the ones I mean , sweaty palms, loose thumbsticks and faulty headphone ports :) . These limited edition controllers are not only good looking but they have a different texture on the shells that eliminated my hand sweating issues while playing CoD or BF3. They did not however, eliminate my need to scream at my TV when I die. The transformable D-pad is functional , but I have no use for it. The controller feels lighter than my previous gen wireless one and seems to get more life out of the rechargeable battery packs. The thumbsticks are upgraded and are far easier to manipulate then last gens too. I initially bought a Silver Chrome limited , but took it back after 4 hours of use and got this instead. Pick one up , you wont be disappointed !

This controller has to be the best controller I have used for the Xbox 360. I have owned two of the original Xbox 360 controllers, one black and one white, as well as a few third party controllers, including the  Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Combat Controller for Xbox 360  and two of the  Xbox 360 Pad EX 2 with Turbo - Black . All the other controllers have failed in one way or another, unlike this one. The fit is perfect, the d-pad is perfect, and the finish and texture is perfect. Excellent product!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a very precise controller and a great novelty item of MW3
Reviewed in Canada on August 28, 2012
It's not just a controller with MW3 logo on it; the buttons are specifically designed for precision. I have noticed the performance difference right away when I play TDM on MW2 and MW3. Aiming and movement are very precise. If you need an extra controller or have just broken one and need a replacement, this is a great choice.
