I have three of these sharpeners in my classroom, and I LOVE them. On average, 30 -40 pencils get sharpened a day. When using the traditional horizontal sharpener, the sharpener would literally eat half the pencil before the pencil got sharp. With the iPoint, very minimal loss of the pencil length occurs. It sharpens pencils to an extremely pointed quality, to resharpen takes mere seconds. My students love this sharpener as well as one can hear and feel when the pencil is sharp. The clear reservoir for the shavings is also wonderful as the students always know when to empty it. A quick screw off of the top, and out slides the contents. Only once in the 5 months I've owned these sharpeners has the lead got stuck ( a regular occurrence in the traditional sharpener). and when it did, I simply tapped the outside upside down, and out it plopped. I love this sharpener so much, I sent a link to my supervisor to consider having them in every room.

And then it didn't. I've cleaned out the shavings. Tried different outlets. But when I stick a No. 2 pencil in, the motor doesn't turn.

It's a low quality product...I don't think it's made the same way it was 10 years ago. Don't buy it- it will break.

I purchased mine from Target December, 2014. It worked great for a year but then all of the sudden it wasn't sharpening. So applied a little more pressure and the whole mechanism just broke. It won't spin now. I need a new one. I can't imagine the blades dull within one year. I'm hoping it was a fluke in the manufacture of my particular one.
