    I was looking for a reasonably priced external speaker for my Icom IC-7300 radio. I was pleasantly surprised with the performance of this inexpensive $11 speaker, seeing that the companion speaker from Icom would cost $175. The speaker is in a 4 x 4 x 2.5 inch plastic enclosure, and comes wired with a 3.5mm mono plug on the end of an approximately 4 foot long cord. Because I use Morse code, and am mostly interested in a 700 Hz tone, I opened the enclosure and surrounded the speaker cone with some open cell foam to deaden the high frequency response a bit. The IC-7300 is rated at 2.5 watts audio output, and it will drive this speaker much louder than I would ever want in an indoor setting. The speaker comes with a metal bracket for mounting to a wall. This bracket is easily removed for using the speaker on a desk top.

    This is not a 25watt powered speaker. It may handle a 25 watt amp, but the description indicated 25 watts of power. Quote "25 WATT POWER: The external communication speaker features 25 watts of maximum power w/ 8-ohm impedance and its noise canceling"

    I only found out it wasn't powered when I open the box! Bait and switch! It isn't noise canceling either, no power for noise canceling circuitry!
