I've also purchased the North States Extra-Wide Swing gate so that all of our gates can be completely removed easily without any twisting nonsense to hold gates in place (I'd rather have a hole from an eye hook than scuff marks).
The installation went without a hitch. My only concern is that the metal hooks on the bottom of each of the connection points seem to bend pretty easily just by swinging on one of the hinges (if you're not careful). They're easy enough to bend back into shape with pliers, but from what I know about fatigue failures... you only get to do that so many times before the metal will fail.
Other than that, it looks like the gate is made out of some kind of poplar, which is a soft wood. It's been working fine keeping our daughter (<1 yo) in the living room instead of adventuring up the stairs where she could tumble down if she lost her balance. She uses the gate to stand up sometimes and be mad and it's held up just fine. Our two dogs (50 and 70 lbs) have lightly run into it only a few times and it's survived.
