    You well need this IF you want your transducer to swing up if it hits something in the water. DOES NOT come with the transducer. Closes very tight. Takes quite a bit of effort or a hard hit by something in the water to cause the transducer to swing up. My first unit DID NOT swing up - it just broke off, taking the transducer with it. All I had left was the dangling wire and the broken mount attached to the transom. This time I did a little sanding to the parts that snap together so as to allow the unit to swing up with a little less effort.

    We ended up in a pinch when one of the brackets broke the day before an out of state tournament. We ended up having to buy a whole unit to get the brackets and then I order this to replace the brackets and return the original unit. Fast forward a year later and a different piece broke, so we ordered again. We now have one on reserve in case anything happens again. We spend most of our time on a river and occasionally hit debris, which can do a number on these plastic brackets, so having a spare one can prevent not being able to use our electronic for days.
    On a side note, we have a Humminbird Helix 10 SI.
