Almost perfect... the only thing keeping me from making this a perfect 5 stars is that it was a little tight fitting for my unit in my boat dash. Other then that it was exactly what I was looking for.
This is an expensive kit, considering that all you get are a few screws, a cable harness, and a bent piece of aluminum. If things went well and didn't require modification, I wouldn't mind too much. However, I had to perform major alterations to the aluminum bracket to get it to work in the bow of my Triton.
The problem is that the bracket is too long to be useful. It only needs to be long enough to cover the portion of the finder that protrudes through the dash, so why did Humminbird make it longer than the external dimensions of the entire unit? If you had a spacious dashboard with nothing else mounted to it then it may not be an issue, but I've seen no such space on any boat I've been on.
I ended up rebending the bracket, redrilling the holes, and cutting off about 1.5 inches of it so it would clear the opening in my bow panel. I still had to shave off one side of my panel opening to accommodate the actual unit, but the bracket was about 1.5 inches too long to even come close to fitting. My one hour project turned into several hours of work. I suspect console installations would have the same problem.
I chose this fish finder to fit the panel size of my boat, as I'm sure many folks do. It doesn't make sense to pay $25 for a bracket that requires 2" more clearance than needed.
It looks like you're getting a surround kit, when what you really get is a thing that prevents the device from falling out of the hole that you cut. Be sure that you cut that hole perfectly!!!!
