A powerful friend in the kitchen

Style can be enticing, but if you also want high performance in a stand mixer, look no further. The Eclectrics Stand Mixer fuses all-metal durability with a history of mixing expertise everyone respects. It’s designed for hands-free mixing for a wide variety of food ranging from light and airy egg whites to sticky bread dough. A powerful 400 Watt motor is great for everyday mixing and can handle the thickest cookie dough. Planetary mixing action gives complete bowl coverage - the mixing head spins as it rotates completely inside the bowl, allowing better mixing than traditional 2-beater stand mixers. There’s no need to stop and scrape ingredients from the side of the bowl. Twelve settings give you maximum versatility and precise control at every speed. Adding ingredients while preparing a recipe is easy; the head tilts up out of the way for bowl access or you can use the pouring shield to add ingredients. Nonslip feet keep the mixer still while in use, and the splatter shield guards against messy drips, drops, and spills. Attachments include a non-stick flat beater, dough hook and whisk. All attachments, as well as the stainless steel 4.5 quart mixing bowl, are dishwasher safe for fast cleanup.

Easy clean up

Easily add ingredients and avoid a mess with the two-piece clear pouring/splatter shield that guards against drips, drops, and spills. Use the shield when making thin batters or mixtures that will splash. All the attachments, bowl, and pouring/splatter shield are dishwasher safe. Each mixer is hand finished, then covered with a protective coating to prevent fingerprints and unsightly smudges. The exterior is easily wiped clean with a damp cloth.

Key Feature Benefits

Mixing action offers complete bowl coverage

Planetary mixing action means the mixing head orbits around the bowl as the beater rotates in the opposite direction for thorough hands-free mixing of ingredients. This maximizes contact between the bowl and attachment, ensuring complete bowl coverage and better mixing than stand mixers with two beaters. Save time with this mixer, as there is no need to stop and scrape ingredients from the side of the bowl.

All-metal construction is built to last

This mixer combines the built-to-last metal construction of the past with the look of today to bring lasting quality and style to your kitchen. High performance electronics provide constant power for consistent mixing at any speed. Enjoy the confidence you have in a product backed by years of experience and a 3 year warranty. Fill your home with the delicious aroma of homemade recipes this appliance helps you create.

Includes attachments for a variety of mixing jobs

Three attachments offer mixing versatility to any job, from blending to whipping. Use the flat beater attachment to mix cakes, cookie dough, fudge, or potatoes. Kneading dough for bread, pizza or cinnamon rolls? Use the dough hook. The whisk is designed to whip liquids, such as egg whites and cream. This mixer is designed to whisk a minimum of 2 large egg whites or 1 cup of cream. With this minimum amount in the bowl, the tip of the whisk is immersed into the liquid, allowing for enhanced mixer performance. All three attachments are easily secured to the shaft with a simple twist.

Getting the most out of your mixer

Whips cream with ease

The Eclectrics Stand Mixer whips cream very quickly. Watch cream closely during whipping because there are just a few seconds between whipping stages. Look for these characteristics: (1) Begins to thicken: Cream is thick and custard-like (2) Holds its shape: Cream forms soft peaks when whisk is removed. Can be folded into other ingredients when making desserts and sauces (3) Stiff: Cream stands in stiff, sharp peaks when whisk is removed. Use for topping cakes or desserts, or filling for cream puffs.

Mixing cookie dough

Cookie dough is one of the thickest doughs to mix. Make it easier by following these tips: (1) Have butter or margarine at room temperature (2) Add ingredients one at a time, thoroughly mixing after each addition (3) Add flour one cup at a time (4) If the mixer seems to struggle, increase the speed setting.

Chocolate Velvet Layer Cake

2 cups cake flour, 1⁄2 cup unsweetened baking cocoa, 2 teaspoons baking soda, 1⁄4 teaspoon salt, 10 tablespoons butter, room temperature, 2 cups light brown sugar, packed, 2 eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 3⁄4 cup sour cream, and 3⁄4 cup cold brewed coffee

Preheat oven to 350ºF. In a small bowl stir together flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt. Set aside. Using flat beater attachment, cream butter and sugar on setting 4. Add eggs 1 at a time beating well after each addition. Add vanilla. Reduce speed to setting 2. Add half of flour mixture, then all of sour cream. Add remaining flour mixture. Then slowly pour in coffee. Mix on setting 2 about 30 seconds. Turn off mixer and scrape sides and bottom of bowl. Turn mixer on to setting 4 and mix until thoroughly blended. Divide batter between 2 greased and wax paper lined 9-inch (23x3 cm) round cake pans. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until tests done. Cool in pan for 5 minutes then remove from pans and cool on racks. Frost with Bittersweet Chocolate Frosting. Makes one 2-layer cake.

Bittersweet Chocolate Frosting

1⁄3 cup (80 ml) butter, room temperature, 21⁄2 cups (625 ml) confectioners sugar, 3⁄4 cup (175 ml) unsweetened baking cocoa, 1⁄4 cup milk, 1 to 2 tablespoons cold brewed coffee, and 1 teaspoon vanilla

Using flat beater attachment, beat butter on setting 4 until smooth. Add confectioners sugar and cocoa alternately with milk and continue beating until smooth. Add vanilla and beat until smooth and blended.

Tips for Stand Mixer Use

  • Place liquid ingredients in bowl first and then add dry ingredients.
  • Always stay near mixer during use.Always stay near mixer during use.
  • To begin mixing, use the lower speeds until the ingredients are thoroughly combined. This will reduce splattering.
  • Always add ingredients as close to the sides of the bowl as possible, not directly into the moving attachment.
  • When preparing package cake mixes, use Speed 2 for low speed, Speed 4 for medium speed, and Speed 6 for high speed. For best results, mix for the time stated on the package directions.
  • Mixtures containing large amounts of liquid ingredients should be mixed at lower speeds to avoid splashing. Increase speed only after the mixture has thickened. When mixing thin batters, use medium speeds.

Awesome Mixer for half the price of the fancy over priced Kitchen Aids
I received this last week. I've made six loafs of different breads, made cupcakes, cake, all my own frostings. This machine does the trick for me. Yes the head shakes somewhat when mixing bread dough as stated in other reviews, but so does the kitchen aid. Nature of the beast with bread dough. Handled it with ease whatever I threw at it so far. Motor never over heated. All I needed was a simple stand mixer without all the frills I wouldn't use anyway. Just some of what I made today. Neighbors birthday tomorrow, so I baked her a red velvet chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting. Love this mixer. Can't beat the three year warranty either. 400 watts. Had no problem using the splash guard, but I don't use it much. If you take your time and mix stuff slowly at first then pick up the speed as needed I had no problem of making a mess. Common sense use of this mixer you will have no problems like I've seen on some of the reviews. More like operator error to me. Can't over load these mixers or you will have issues. Again. Great mixer as far as I'm concerned. Happy baking folks. This makes it fun and easier for me.

I bought this mixer in 2016. We moved and didn't take our kitchen aid with us. I was skeptical because I loved my kitchen aid. This mixer did not disappoint. It is a work horse and I couldn't be happier with it. It's now 8 years old and still clipping along strong and I expect it will continue for years to come. Love this mixer.

I purchased this mixer primarily to make bread dough. I had been using my 2lb break machine to do so, rarely using it to actually bake (don't like the shape of pan). But I wanted to step up to a mixer that could do a better job, and with a little more capacity.

I couldn't justify a KitchenAid as this bread making thing might just be a passing phase. I was also worried making too much dough would strip the gears (two of the three used models on CraigsList, that were near me, needed the gears replaced--and they were not old). I also knew I would most likely never get any attachments. I feel stand alone machines are better for that, and are less expensive (at least for how I would use them). Still, I thought a KA was the gold standard for home stand mixers.

So with the KA out I looked at the bare minimum I could get for making bread dough--often 100% whole wheat (which my bread maker couldn't really do well). I foolishly thought an expensive combination stand/hand mixer could work for just dough. But those didn't seem up to the task. Even the metal Sunbeam--with that turning bowl--didn't seem up to it (plenty of reviews stating NOT FOR DOUGH). That unit was $80-$100 give or take (I got lost in the number of models that looked similar). They all had thin dough hooks that didn't look all that robust. Wasn't sure two dough hooks was a good idea either.

So I settled on this Hamilton Beach model. It is all metal like the KA, has an oscillating beater motion, locking bowl with handle, and reviews were very positive. All that for just a little more than the Sunbeam models I had been looking at--and half the price or less than a comparable KA.

When I got it the first thing I did was make 100% whole wheat dough (with vital wheat gluten added to help it rise). Let me tell you, this dough was like modeling clay it was so thick. But the mixer churned through it--and quietly. It didn't not walk across the counter nor shake any more than I would have expected for such a task. The the top was warm but not at all hot. It kneaded that dough for a good 15 minutes. I did stop it a few times to scrape the bowl, but that was more my OCD than anything else. When I walked away for a moment to get a bread pan ready the bowl was pretty much clean when I returned. Regardless, don't mind if I have to scrape the bowl every now and then--if not regularly. I expected that as even professional stand mixers are like that. In any case the whole wheat bread came out wonderfully.

Despite intending to use for just dough the very next thing I made was mashed potatoes (with lowfat yogurt). Came out nice and fluffy.

Then, "since it was right there" I used it to mix eggs for scrambled eggs in the morning for breakfast. So in less than 24 hours I had used all three attachments. I suspect I will be making more than just dough. My girlfriend is pleased.

Compared to using my bread machine to make dough, I will have to say this requires more attention. You are not supposed to just walk away and let it do its thing, whereas the bread machine is set it and forget it. However, I hardly ever did that with my bread machine. I constantly peered into the window to see what was going on, going as far as using a flashlight when the glass fogged up (that danged OCD again). And, yes, I have scraped the pan many a time when using the bread machine.

As for that splash guard? I agree it is a pain in the neck but I am not writing it off. I do see how it will be helpful at times. I will definitely use it, but not all of the time.

As for fit and finish, I ordered black (licorice) and it is flawless. Goes well with the black stove and black Keurig that it sits next to on the counter. Unlike the bread machine, this puppy is going to live on the counter. :)

I will try to update this review as time transpires.

Wow...this mixer is heavy! Even the beater and dough hook are substantial. At first I thought the tilt release location (on the back right below the cord) was a stupid place for it, (and it is)...but I've gotten used to it. I was concerned that 400-something watts would be undersized, but I think its probably more efficiently constructed than past units. Because of the undeniable feeling of substance and quality, a maximum rating is deserved.
Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2014

First, I will put some measurements. I read a review where someone said that the mixer wouldn't fit underneath their cabinets with the head tilted or something like that. With the head in the mixing position, the mixer stands at about 14.5 inches from counter to the tallest part. With the head tilted, in the position to remove the bowl or exchange the attachment, the mixer stands at just under 18 inches tall. I have had no issues with the mixer being too tall, which is great because I have two little ones and this means that I can have the mixer all the way on the back of the counter with no worries of little fingers and hands making their way towards the bowl as it mixes. Speaking of which...

I have used everything on the mixer except for the whisk attachment, but it won't be long before I do I'm sure. I have made cookies with a very thick dough, I have made a thick sticky bread dough, I have made biscuits with a thick dough, and so far the mixer has held up perfectly with even the thickest doughs. Aside from making my life easier because I can walk away from the mixer to throw away trash or clean a little, it's cut my time in LESS than half because it mixes thoroughly and kneads perfectly. My cookies have been lighter and softer, my bread has been softer and not nearly as tough. One of my bread recipes requires about 30 minutes of mixing+kneading. The dough hook made the same dough in about 5 minutes mixed AND kneaded.

The key to using ANY stand mixer successfully is to use the correct attachment for the job, to use the correct mixing speed, and to neither exceed nor short the ingredients recommended for the use of the mixer. The instructions clearly state that using less than an amount that would equal two eggs in the bottom of the bowl will result in the mixer not being able to mix the ingredients properly. The bowl has a small bump in the bottom of the bowl so that the mixer heads don't touch all areas of the bottom of the bowl. So far however, I have had no issues with this design because the amounts that I have mixed have exceeded the minimum recommendation. The bowl design is the sole reason I am giving this review 4 stars rather than 5. If the bowl was shaped like a normal mixing bowl, it's likely that there would be no minimum quantity for mixing.

Other than that small complaint, I have none. I have had NO issues with the mixer "walking", shaking, or any issues with the motor feeling like it is being taxed. I purchased the white version of the mixer, so while it's nice that you can't see any flour residue on the mixer it also means that you can't see if the mixer needs to be wiped down or where. Because of that, I wipe the entire thing down every time that I've used it and I have had no issues with the way it looks. The mixer looks as good as it did the day I took it out of the box. The bowl and attachments are easy to clean, and while you CAN stick them in the dishwasher, I've been washing them by hand because they wash so easily.

I love my mixer. I purchased the mixer for $149.99 pre-tax, and I have Amazon Prime shipping so I received it in two days with no additional cost for shipping. The day that I received my mixer, the price dropped from $149.99 to $129.99. I emailed Amazon's customer service and they notified me that since it had been less than 2 weeks since my purchase the difference would be refunded to my card. I got this outstanding mixer for $130. Nearly half the price of a Kitchenaid mixer, but with a more powerful motor. My original choice for a mixer was going to be the Cuisinart which is about the same price as a higher model KA, but with an 800 watt motor. No, I did not consider a KA first. Whirlpool has certainly rejuvenated the brand, but at what cost to the consumer? My first choice for a KA would be a used Hobart, but I would hate to get one used and not have a backup that is reliable. This mixer works well, looks great, and the cost is unparalleled for the product.

My mom needed a kitchen stand mixer cuz she bakes and cooks A LOT. Anyways, I did my research on the motors in these vs the more known brand, Kitchen Aid. These won by far. So, naturally I got it for her for Christmas. Hear this tho, Christmas of 2014. I'm just now reviewing this. 😆 Anyways, the mixer is still going strong and she still says it's one of the best most useful gifts she's gotten. Here's to another 10 years.

Owned it a couple of weeks, so I can't speak about it's durability, although it has a solid warranty, We are very pleased with this mixer. It's solidly built, silent, strong and easy to use.
The only critic I can give it is I find that the slider for speed adjustment is a little difficult to position precisely. It's nothing major, and I may get better at it. Either way, not a biggie.

Edit: After a year and half the mixer is still working great. This thing is built like a tank. As long as we don't drop it on the floor, I'm confident it'll last long. Even then I'm afraid the floor would be in worse shape. The other day my wife whipped cream for the first time with the mixer - no comparison with the trauma of doing it with a hand mixer. The cream almost whipped itself!
