This is an excellent slow cooker. I bought it specifically because I wanted one that was not huge, so that I could cook smaller portions of food at a time. It's perfect for that application. While I do have a larger slow cooker, there are times when I want to make a smaller portion of food. The smaller size also makes it easier to store when not in use. I keep it on a shelf in the pantry, you could probably fit it in the corner of your counter if you had to, and it wouldn't take up too much space.
I really like how this slow cooker has more than just one temperature setting it has three, high and low settings, as well as one to keep the food warm for an extended time period.
It is extremely easy to use, and great for when you want to get your meal started early in the day, and have it ready for dinner time. It's perfect for a small pot roast, some bbq ribs, or a few pieces of chicken. It is also great for making a few servings of soup. It would probably be perfect for keeping appetizers warm at a party as well, but I haven't tried that yet.
As with any slow cooker, you want to put the food in here already heated up, since they are by nature designed to only produce a small amount of heat, just enough to keep the food hot enough to cook. If you put cold food in, it will take a very long time before it comes up to temperature, and actually starts to cook.
I also like how this slow cooker has a glass lid, too many of them made today have cheap thin plastic lids. You can wash the lid in the dishwasher, as well as the crock itself, which makes cleanup extremely easy. The heating body of the cooker looks like it is pretty well made, and should last a long time.
I bought this slow cooker over two years ago, and it is still working fine. I hope to get many many more years of life out of it.

Perfect size for morning oatmeal
(see photo) I own two Rival Crock Pots and I am impressed at the quality of this Proctor Silex slow cooker. The exterior does not get hot and everything has a better feel to it than the Rival Crock Pots. I bought this to make oatmeal overnight (use a timer so it kicks off about midnight). I bought some Bob's Red Mill Organic Steel Cut Oats, 4 - 24-Ounce bags which are really superior to the local health food store bin steel cut oats. When I'd used my medium-sized Crock Pot I wasn't satisfied with the hot spots I'd get, and the Crock Pot was only about half full -- this Proctor Silex model is nearly full and it cooks the oats much better. So I'm pretty satisfied with this purchase, this one is a keeper. If only I could get my kids to try the oatmeal! I like to add some maple syrup Coombs Family Farms Organic Grade B Syrup, 16-Ounce Bear Jugs (Pack of 2) (Grade B has more flavor btw) and a little almond milk Silk Pure Almond Original, 32-Ounce Aseptic Cartons (Pack of 6) -- really a delicious, simple breakfast that's ready when you crawl out of bed and that's good for you. As you might guess, I buy a lot of stuff through Amazon! Very convenient. This is a great little kitchen appliance.---Washing this slow cooker today, I had to mention that it's just adorable, like a Mary Engelbreit illustration, small and perfectly sized, nice and round, feels right in the hand. A cheerful little object. "Just right."
