This is a nice inexpensive 36L hiking pack. Its comfortable, has lots of pockets (3 large and various small) and several straps as well as a water bladder hole on top. I would recommend this if you don't want to drop 100-200 at REI. It wont be comfortable if over-weighted, but its not made for that like the larger packs are, > 50L.

The Ozark Trail Hiking Pack. The dimensions for this bag are 13.39 inches × 8.27 inches x 19.69 inches with a capacity of 36 liters. This bag is a little large for me, but it has many adjustable straps to help fit it comfortably. There are two large pockets on the sides that can both hold water bottles and other items that need to be easily accessed. This bag also has a compartment that can hold a Camelback or similar container with a small hole located near the top handle for the mouthpiece to fit through. The waist straps also have two zippered pockets, one on each side, that can easily hold keys and phones. The various size compartments inside the bag make it very easy to keep items organized. There is even a small clip in the very front pocket that keys can be clipped to so they are not mixed in with other items and are easy to find. Two clips are located at the top and bottom of the bag to help keep it's shape. The shoulder straps and back panel also help support the weight and load distribution. An additional upside is this backpack is made of recycled material.

Best weekend hiking/travel backpack

Arrived nicely packaged, this backpack is a total beast. First of all the size is just perfect for you to pack up all your essentials when going on a nice hike. This backpack has multiple compartments which I love that can accommodate things of many different sizes and weights. The straps are perfect size and adjustable, so no matter your height or weight this thing will be a perfect fit. Very comfortable with some nice thick padding on the sides. The color scheme to me is very sporty! Does not weigh much , which is a big plus but yet feels and looks very well made. Overall I am very excited about this backpack and it's capabilities. I definitely recommend!

Problem solved

The quality of this backpack is amazing! Don't let the idea of purchasing a recycled product deter you. The stitching, quality of fabric, and closures is an excellent indication as to how this pack will hold up. The inside of the pack is large and it also has zippered exterior pouches for storage. You'll definitely be able to bring the essentials for a day trek or a long term hiking experience. Adjustable straps and front closure for the waist allow for a comfortable fit. And, the price point is right on!

Trail On

I spent 35 years backpacking both short, long, easy & difficult distances so have used tons of different backpacks. It takes a lot to impress me anymore. However, I'm seriously impressed by this one. Not only does it have lots of pockets, many easily reachable while the backpack is being worn, & plenty of room to tuck in all the gear you could need & is made to accommodate an easily reachable bladder to keep you hydrated it's also built to protect the wearer. This is where I became really impressed. The frame for the backpack is built in such a way it allows for air to flow between the backpack & the wearers body. This is a massive plus. I'm also impressed by the side compression straps. So many cause chafing but not these. The padding on the straps is an excellent feature when it comes to comfort. The strap to hold your bedroll is the icing on the cake. Well done Ozark trails! This is a truly impressive backpack.

Truly fantastic backpack

I have the hiking backpack made by Ozark Trail. This is a really nice and well-constructed backpack. It has a capacity of 36 liters. It is a light to medium gray in color with a bluish trim. It is a great-looking backpack! The backpack features airmesh padded shoulder straps and a back panel to aid in comfort. There is a pocket on both sides that will hold your water bottle. Also on both sides of the flap that expands around your waist, there are tricot-lined pockets that zip. The backpack itself unzips from the top, which opens the entire backpack for larger items. There is a smaller compartment within it built onto the side for smaller or flatter items. Then there are two other zippered compartments in front of the one big one that will hold smaller items. The one on the very front has some mesh compartments and a zippered compartment for smaller items that might otherwise get shuffled around. I think this is a great backpack and will hold a lot of stuff. The only negative I see with this is that the backpack itself is already weighted. I would not say it is heavy, but it has some weight to it. Once it is packed I would recommend it be carried by someone with some hiking strength. I really do think you will love this backpack!

Awesome Hiking Backpack and a Great Color!

This backpack is really nice! The straps are wide enough to distribute the weight nicely and thick enough to be comfortable. There are lots of pockets, which I always love. I especially love the zipper pocket on the size of the backpack-very easy access. There is a good amount of padding on the back of the pack (the part that is against your back) which also helps with comfort. There are also a lot of places to hook things on, which is a big plus for hiking. It has two buckles on your front that help to keep it in place, and (as the photo makes very obvious) there's a nice wide strap that comes around your hips to help with more support. It also holds quite a bit...more than I think the photo in the description looks like it would hold. Overall, very impressed with this backpack!

Fantastic backpack!

This is the BEST day hiking or just take to work backpack that I've found in an long long time. Sturdy, high quality, awesome features- like the perfect waist band, well padded straps and the back harness. My only disappointment is the cost has doubled in the past year but at least it's still sold so I can buy a backup if my original ever dies. Plus, even at 60ish it's a smokin good deal

Love it

excellent bag

This bag  delivers a whole lot of amazing functionality for under $50. The air vent alone makes it worth buying-keeps your back much cooler than a standard pack. The load distribution is really great, and this bag is comfortable from the get go. I hiked 12 miles with this 2 days after I found it at my local WM. I was pleasantly surprised by how great it worked out. Just wish the pockets for water bottles had an extra strap to keep the bottle secure. I hike 1-2x a week, anywhere from 6-12 miles on the AT. I even stuck my poles in the bungee cords  for ease of storage. Great bag.

Amazing features for under $50!

The chest strap fell off when I went to adjust it on my hike into camp. That made for a very, very uncomfortable hike back to my truck the next morning. 

This thing is fine for a hiking day pack, but dont put more than about 15lbs in it. If you are looking for something that can hold more weight (like 20-30lbs for backpacking), get a real pack, or invest in ultralight gear (which would be counter productive considering the bag itself is unnecessarily heavy)

The pack is also heavy for backpacking, mine weighing in at 3lbs 14.2oz empty. Do yourself a favor and pony up the extra $100 or so for a good pack.
