Still have an old 3 burner model and love it.  I clean the SS emitters every few years.  One small place has burnt through so I just turned it around and put it on the right side.  Might buy a new emitter one of these days.  When you remove the grates and emitters the burners below look new except for surface rust.  I've had many grills in the past and after a couple of years the burners fall apart.  Fact is I liked my old three burner so well just bought a new 4 burner and took the old grill to our lake house.

I'm just about 73 and have been grillin' all my life.  I've had just about every kind of gril you could imagine.  I've never cooked on a better grill than my Charbroil.  Even on low heat it creates a perfectly even cooking surface.  It's simply AMAZING!

Anyone who says they are unsatisfied because their cooking grates have rusted do not know anything about BBQ...
It's normal for grates to rust when they cool down. Start your BBQ and when it starts to heat, take a steel brush and rub your grates just a little and the heat will make the rust go away...

Char-Broil Infrared is the best BBQ in the world !

Finishing our second summer with this baby, and still LOVING it. Decided to not buy a cover, and the exterior it's holding up beautifully. It does require a bit more maintenance if you use a lot of marinade, because when the tiny slits in the bottom of the grates fill in, the flames can't get enough air, and max temperature declines. But after a good cleaning, the heat can get up to 500+ degrees. 

And I get ZERO flare-ups: the "tent covers over the burners, along with the unique slit-hole grates, equals burgers/chicken cooked thoroughly all the way thru but just a wee bit of blackening on the outside.

Best grill we've ever owned

This being my 4th Char-Broil infrared grill I can say that I love infrared  I'm not certain about the emitters on this one.  They're different from any of the other 3, in fact none of my grills have had the same emitters.  I still think the trough is the best version by far.

I love this grill so much, my food is always juicy and evenly cooked.
The only thing is that it smokes a lot and does not have a night ligh, that's why 4 instead of 5 stars

My 2nd one

We've had the grill for a few years now and liked it so much, we bought the exact same model for our son and his family. Even the ignitor has remained functional over these years. The only problem we've encountered (on both grills actually) is that the thermometers do not last long at all. This product would have gotten five-stars except for that. Having said that, we're more than pleased with the grill's performance.

Grill was received as a gift they a recommendation. It appears there are “upgrades” to the grill from earlier models.  Sadly the upgrades are not so good.  The cooking surface is not your traditional grate surface but a grid with very thin slits between the rails.  They clog fairly easy requiring a full take down of the grates to clean them.   Tried just burning it off which resulted in crusty mess and more cleaning.   Apparently prior editions of the grill had a cooking surface and under that the infrared grates  which required cleaning on a must less frequent basis.  Hopefully I can find some grates that will fit the grill otherwise I will be opening up the slits and letting the fame take over

I was shipped 1, Every time I contact charbroil the same answer, “we're investigating.” Yet still no return of my money for the extra unit nor no word if I'll get sent the other unit I paid for. I was in the impression when I searched it 2as coming to Me as I had ordered natural gas infrared BBQ when gad fitter went to hook it up said there were no parts to covert to natural gas now I need to deal with getting g it converted needs to say in the add Natural Gas!!!!!
