While the material is little thin , I think it is needed to keep the weight low. Once assembled feels sturdy and design is good.

Took 2 hours to put it and start grilling. Overall good medium sized grill.

Good sized grill and easy to assemble

Easy to use

Ok, so this charcoal is not some heavy duty pitmaster special (I've got one of those already), but for backyard burgers and steaks, it gets the job done.  Put it together yesterday and seasoned it with oak and pecan for two hours.  Then cooked on it for the next three hours.  The whole time, I was able to maintain the temp exactly where I wanted it.  Used only wood and liked the front access door for putting more wood on the fire as needed.  One of the guys at the store kinda scoffed at this grill, but if you can't cook a good burger or steak on this grill, then someone needs to scoff at you I say.  Take care of this grill, and you can get several years of good food from it.

Gets the job done

I have had mine for about a year and a half. I have had two of the other Char-griller and loved them. I prefer this style better. I can control the heat easier by raising or lowering the coals. I cook on it regularly and really enjoy it. Char-Griller puts out great products.

Charcoal Grill

Great gill for what it is.  It has a lot of surface area for grilling and smoking.  By itself, it's a thin gauge grill with heavy grates that have lasted perfectly for over 4 years so far.  The upper level shelf is also a good size.  I have also added the side smokebox for really great smoking results.

If you are looking for a versatile grill that holds a lot of food, this works really well.

So far, I've used it for burgers, chicken breasts, turkey breasts, hot dogs, brats, pork shoulder, brisket, pork tenderloin, pork ribs, and an assortment of vegies and even fruits and desserts.  All have turned out amazing so for a grill or smoker, it works really well.

PROS:  Large area, with easy to clean ashpans.  Able to add a side smokebox very easily.  Top grill grate removes easily for taller pieces like a full turkey, large brisket, or ham.  Side tables with hooks.  Coal pan that you can raise or lower for the perfect sear / heat control of your grilling coals.  Front door for loading more charcoal.  Fairly lightweight and very mobile.  

CONS:  Lightweight gauge steel, so heat control isn't 'easy', especially for offset smoking - it takes practice to get good at it.  Outside air temperature definitely affects the cooking.  Helps to have an insulated blanket for colder weather smoking, and a hot day can cause spikes.  The smokestack isn't in the optimal position.  Most folks getting into offset smoking have to have patience and learn that offset smoking is much different than using a Weber kettle.  Offset smoking, or using a 'stick-burner', uses a lot of fuel.  And it uses hardwood firewood - not charcoal.  If you use charcoal, you'll go through bags of it.  The offset modification uses firewood.  This frustrates folks, if you don't understand the physics behind how an offset smoker works.  Not just for this unit, but for all offset smokers.  That being said, the smoke taste is amazing, if you are burning clean, blue smoke.  For grilling, using lump charcoal works great and isn't an issue.

My set up is the base model with the side smoke box.  I can grill using just the grill grates, or I can do a full all-day smoke using the smokebox and hardwood firewood.  When grilling, an added bonus is that you can get a flat surface, or cast 

I have modified my grill.  I have a baffle I added to keep the offset flames from being 'direct'.  I always use a large water pan to control head spikes.  I use a piece of sheet metal to extend the smokestack below the lid.

Capacity:  I've done 4 pork shoulders (pork butts).  5 would fit with one on the rack, but when they go into aluminum pans after the stall, the pans are too big, so 4 is ideal.  3 on the bottom and one on the top rack.

My latest cook was a 14 lb. brisket (cooked perfectly), plus 4 half chickens and even a head of butter bacon cabbage.  What I'm trying to say is, there is a lot of surface area.  2 briskets would be doable, but they would both need to be under 10 lbs. each.  A 20 lb. brisket would be no problem.  The brisket, chickens, and cabbage (plus a few jalapeno poppers tossed in for good measure) were excellent!

Great Gill for what it is.  Good Offset smoker.

I just assembled this grill. Took a couple of hours, but I did it alone while the manual says to use two people.
Some issues I found: the packaging leaves a very sticky residue on parts of the grill, which I found quite messy; when attaching the hex bolts, do yourself a favor and use a socket rather than the Philips head screwdriver-I had good success with a small diameter 11 mm socket with an extender; finally, I was unable to screw the tool hooks into the pre-drilled holes, which seemed too small. I ended up throwing them away.
On the positive side, all the other parts fit nicely and the construction feels solid. The solid rubber wheels should last and the two shelves offer convenient work areas. I really like the adjustable coal tray. I am looking forward to cooking with this new grill!
