I bought this 2 years ago and it has been an awesome grill. After two years most other grills I've had have rusted out, but my 580 is still in great shape and it just sits outside all year in Minnesota. I love the adjustable charcoal tray and multiple vents that make it easy to control the temperature. The grates are high quality and show no signs of rusting. Having an access door on the front is very convenient. I use it frequently and love it.

Char-Broil, LLC

We love this grill.  It's smaller than our other grills, but we are downsizing as the kids get older and moving out.  It gets hot rather quickly and stays hot. Cooks great!

Great Grill

Finally in stock, the 580 has everything that we were missing in the char broil infrared kettle grill (itself an excellent grill that lasted us 6 years before the grates started rusting out) - side tables, adjustable charcoal level, larger cook area and an upper level cooking grate (mainly for bread). Char broil has thus far been the best charcoal grills we have used. We grill on a weekly basis, live in south Florida and the grill remains outside year round. Great materials, durability and grilling experience - highly recommend!!

Fantastic grill

My favorite feature is the crank that lowers and raises the charcoal.  There is easy access to the charcoal via the fire door.  And, it was easy to assemble.

Bought a week ago, lovin it so far, just the right size for a beginner. Put it together myself and I love having a healthier option

Something new

Grill was easy to put together. Just a couple of minor issues with it. The stationary feet on one side of the grill fall tend to fall out when you pick it up to move it. We fixed this will a little glue. The biggest issue for us was the cotter pin keep the grate adjustment handle in place was too far up. When you had the grate at the lowest level it was not all the way down. And when the grate was raised completely it came up out of the cooking area. We just removed the cotter pin and are careful not to wind it too far out. We are also careful not to wind it too far up so the grate does not touch the cooking surface. I wanted a slightly smaller grill than my old grill  to fit my new deck space. The assembly took some time. The install manual is picture oriented. The drawings for attaching the ash pan lift tray are horrible. I had to go to Youtube to determine which way it attached to the lever that you use to raise the pan. The grill has been outside for a couple of weeks. We've had a lot of rain. I got to use it once. I've cleaned it. I like that I can bring the grill gates inside for cleaning. It took some time for me to get a grill cover. There are already places where it is rusting. My last grill lasted over 15 years. I hope this one will last a couple.

Lacks durability

Took me 6 hours to assemble and I've been putting stuff together for years. The directions have no words, only pictures. The screws on the smoke ventilation on the sides don't screw in properly. Also, one of the side pieces was scratched and the coal assembly that holds the tray was sticky and had been previously used. I haven't used it yet but it's too much trouble to take back. Hopefully it works well after all that. Very frustrating!

Beautiful on the outside but beware!

Contrary to its name, the 580 does not have 580 square inches of grilling space. It has about 400 inches. The remaining 180 sq inches is a rack for warming. If you read the fine print, you will find this out, but Char-Broil does not make it obvious. I bought this to replace a previous Char-Broil grill that did have 580 sq inches of grill space. Char-Broil would not take the product back, so be sure it is big enough to meet your needs before you buy!

Poor design. The lid needs to be held open with one hand and pulls off the cooking rack if opened too far. The design makes it difficult to fit a charcoal chimney.
