This was bought as a gift for my son. This is the 3rd one I have bought. I have a mini that I bought for my mother and father's vacation home and I have had my full size Char-Griller 8 years. I have used it a ton for smoking meat and grilling. It just keeps on performing. No need to buy a Green Egg! This grill keeps constant temperature for hours and hours. The longest cook I have completed with this grill is 3 pork butts for 17 hours and it stayed constant. I used the snake method for the charcoal and it only burned half of the coal I set up. This grill is heavily insulated. This is a professional grill in my opinion because it performs and has great longevity. It's very well made. I will be purchasing a 4th if and when my full size ever falls apart but from the looks of it that may be years from now.

Received my grill recently. The box was mostly destroyed. The grill was fine except a dent in the ash tray. Unfortunately it is already rusted. The grill itself is great. Well built and holds the heat really well.

Acorn grill first time owner.

Bought the AKORN Kamado grill direct from their website.  The Graphite color was discounted, and they had it delivered to me in about a week or less.  I've been using it very often and I absolutely love it!  Pics of 1st attempt 12-hour Texas style brisket and 1st attempt smoked prime rib that was the best I've ever had! I've also cooked a roast beef, ribs, steak and a whole chicken.... all delicious.  For the price you can't go wrong.  Get the custom fit cover, ceramic smoker plate and a good thermometer and you'll be set.

Get this Smoker/Grill Yo!

I have wanted a Kamado style grill for years but just couldn't justify the cost of the ceramic ones.  Then, I found the Akorn and I must say I am impressed.  After just a few cooks to learn about this style of cooking I now use the Akorn exclusively.  Everything I have cooked (whole chicken, drumsticks, thighs and wings, beef ribs and cheeks, meatloaf) have turned out so good I'm gettin hungery just thinking about them.  I am having fun again with the grill.  My pellet grill did a good job but not much fun. I still have much to learn about the Akorn and I am lookin forward to doing so.  In my freezer waiting to be cooked on the Akorn is a port butt, beef riblets, pork spareribs, chicken wins, salmon.  Another thing, the cold weather does not affect the cooking.  The Akorn is so well insulated that I think it would work in Antarctica.

Great all around charcoal grill! We bake bread, pizza, and slow cook BBQ. It does it all and seems well built. Very happy with the Akorn!

Great all around grill

Excellent product and value. This is my 2nd CharGriller Akorn smoker/grill. My first one lasted over 10 years. Why spend more money, when the Akorn Kamado does such a wonderful job? Looking forward to 10 or more years with my new Akorn. Over the holidays, I smoked a 20 lb turkey, 18 lbs of pork butts, and nearly 60 wings!

My only complaint is it might be a bit too efficient to get a good heavy smoke. I've head success with putting a smaller charcoal basket inside and making it work harder to heat up. Also, I would prefer a top vent with a cover to protect from snow and water inside. Otherwise, love it.

Great grill. Few tips.

Relatively easy to assemble, but there are a few tricky spots that you just need to work through. I love the overall design and how lightweight it is compared to ceramic-based Kamado-style grills. Love the cast-iron grills and the inner grill circle that can be removed easily. Temperature control is quite good. My only complaint is that I have trouble getting really high heat to the surface of the grill due to how far the coals are from the grill. But, I know I can figure this out eventually and I'm sure it will be a great cooking tool. Waiting on getting the deflector to start using it for smoking and hopefully also will be able to do some pizzas using the pizza stone accessory.

Great potential, good design

The quality is top notch. Assembly was easy. Shipping Communication was lacking, almost 14 days before I received any emails. Besides that I'm happy with my purchase.

Got My Akorn

The grill is great but it came with a bent axle for the wheels. The only reason we didn't send it back is because we took the axel from our old grill and used it. The package came super beat up and heavily taped so it seems apparent that the first person returned the box discovered the bent axle and returned it. We were lucky we had a spare, otherwise I can't imagine having to pack everything up again and ship it back.
