This is the perfect pot for plants if you are in an apartment and want to utilize your small patio with plants.  I drilled some holes underneath to allow for water drainage.  I also drilled 4 slightly larger holes to fit the zip ties (the extra long ones--you can get these at Home Depot, Lowes) through so you can secure the ties under the railing and the pot will not fall off.  My railing is 2" wide--this will work for 2" to 4" for the railing width.  My plants are thriving beautifully on top.  I have 5 of these pots on my patio.  They look great from the outside of the building, too.  Very pretty colors, too.

Really unique and practical flowering patio pots

Overall I was pleased with these railing planters (I purchased 2).  They exactly fit on my 5.5 inch Trex railing.  No need to fasten them with zip ties.  The only thing was the inside of the pot, due to the indentation for sitting on the railing, did not leave a lot of space for the root ball of the plant.  But I made it work and the plant is doing fine.

I am creating a succulent  balcony  patio  in Ca so hot in summer and white is prefect...MEASURE your rail before you buy anything  I bought just one to test it.  It firs fine and will send photo when I plant my succulents also looking at other planters for various uses in that area

Great planter

It's shape was beautiful but when I ordered it I didn't know that it only fit two or four inch gaps.  I needed a planter that fit a six inch gap. I had to return them.

Gaps need attention

Love the color and size. No fading so far. 6months outside. Very tough.

Perfect

I bought 3 large and 1 smaller planter in blue.  I just painted my house light blue and white.  The porch is white with a navy blue trim.  The planters look fabulous!  All my neighbors have asked where to get them and even a few strangers.  They are nicely made and fit well on my rail.  They do not move in the wind.  I just love them!

I ordered two of these planters.  One of them was fine.  The other one must have been a return because it was dirty and scratched up on one end.  I am asking for an exchange and Walmart is always good about refunds and exchanges.  I am sure I will give a five star rating when I get another new one.  These pix need to be enlarged to see scratches and dirt on them.

Received One New Item and One Used Item

The planter doesn't even fit standard deck railings, which is a basic 2x4

This pot claims to sit on my 4" wide railing. It does not. It has two openings along the bottom to slide onto the railing. While the bigger one works, it is not secure and slips and tips backward and forward. No security ties or holes to run a Bungie cord through are included. It will fall off the railing, poses a danger to people below.
