This will only block bees and flying insects.

Nope, but it has a tiny little water moat to discourage them,,very messy to open and too small a fluid tank.

Does the hook fit on a standard shepherd hook? looks really small

Leak

Droll Yankee makes the best feeders on earth. The birds enjoy them the most. I have been feeding birds for 50 years and have had plenty of experience with feeders.

The Best!

After 5 different feeders this one has solved our problem of attracting bees instead of hummingbirds.

No bees

This is a great hummingbird feeder. Exactly as described. Doesn't leak & ant proof. After not having a feeder for almost 6 months (old style - leaked) we put this out on New Year's Eve in the later afternoon. Had hummingbirds the next morning.

One more thing...this was a last minute Christmas gift. Ordered online from Walmart on Dec 18. It shipped THAT day and arrived on Dec 20. Thank you Walmart!

Hummingbirds are in heaven!

I love watching hummingbirds feed in my yard. I was having a problem of ants attracted to the sugar water and they would crawl up inside. Well after some research about the subject online, this item was suggested. It has a well in the center to trap them. No more problems! Hummingbirds love it!

No More Ants!

This feeder is easy to assemble, easy to keep clean and refill. The bright red top attracts the hummingbirds and the ports and perches function well. There are directions for making the nectar right on the feeder and also on the box; no need to purchase that awful red stuff in the store! I have had my other two Droll Yankee hummingbird feeders for several years and they have held up well.

Great hummingbird feeder

Great for attracting hummingbirds, but too difficult to open without spilling fluids, It must pop on and off, not easy to refill without making a mess all over you. I guess I should have bought the bigger one as it holds more fluid between messy changes.

Humming

Great

I was hoping this feeder would work for my hummers, as it is easy to fill, doesn't leak, and the ant moat is good.  Unfortunately, the humming birds would not use it.  I tried it in 2 different locations for a month.  Changed the nectar every week.  Nothing worked.  But the hummers come to the other gravity filled feeders.  I'm disappointed.

Didn't work out

I ordered this product because all the others I've purchased leaked or allowed the nutrient fluid to splash out in just the slightest of a breeze. This product does not leak, that's true, but although I have a large pond with a waterfall in my yard with birds everywhere. However, I've only seen one hummingbird so far this year and he wasn't interested in this feeder. Haven't quite figured out why. Guess we'll see.
