maybe-- the shovel metal end is sturdy for lots of general use-- the handles on the other hand are not very good quality wood and can break fairly easily-- thus the reasonable price--ok metal/ low quality handle wood. ok for only LIGHT digging when little force will be used while pulling back in the handle-- they BREAK right where the metal meets the handle when stressed. just go easy or you could easily lose your balance and fall backwards when hole digging.

Spend $5 - $10 more to get a better wooden handled shovel. This one barely handles digging the soft packed sandy soil of my Northern Florida vegetable garden. I won't buy this shovel again, and I won't recommend it to anyone else. The wooden handle twists from the metal of the blade and won't last.

Yes, it will work fine for spreading top soil. The handle is just too soft for digging holes.

I would say yes! My husband is rough on tools and he used this shovel to dig down next to an old foundation that was found on our property. It was broken up partially and partially buried so he dug around the buried parts with this shovel to expose the foundation so it could be broken up and removed. ( all manually) Not a crack or break and the blade held up too. The ground he was breaking into with the shovel was rough,pieces of the broken foundation and pieces of rock and brick. great shovel

Order June 10, 2013 .. Received June 11, 2013.

I had no idea what a #2 Blade was vs a 14 or 16 gauge steel blade. I was replacing a Round Pointed Shovel I bought from Walmart's about 3-years ago, paid under $5. This one was $10.50 + $0.84 tax = $11.34, thus, if I can get 4-years of uses out of it I will be happy. By the way, it cost me about $7 for gas to and from the local Walmart's, thus this Shove was a good deal.

I needed a basic shovel to dig a little trench by my driveway for water runoff. This did the job and I'll be using to redo my flower beds in spring.

Good shovel, good price

I live on a fixed income so, when I needed a shovel for yard work, I checked the usual box stores and was surprised at how much one can cost. When I saw this one on Walmart's site, I figured it would be cheaply made but, when I received it I was wrong. It is a pretty decent shovel and I was glad I saved some money too.

Great for the price

Shovel seems well made and might be perfect for people of smaller stature: handle is a couple inches shorter, shovel head is slightly narrower, and weight is a bit less than a "full size" shovel. So, depending on what you're looking for, this might be just the right size but understand that it is not a full size shovel.

Not a full size shovel

My 14 yr old son was handed this shovel and instructed to dig up a plant in our front yard. Within 5 minutes he brought it back ... in two pieces. The wooden handle broke almost immediately.

And to make matters worse, we bought this shovel on sale, on-line, and picked it up in store. As we were walking out we noticed that the same shovel was being offered for a cheaper price than we had paid. Frustrating!
WalMart needs to change their website so that you can see the actual cost of an item at both the online price and the in-store price.

This shovel broke the first time used.

So this isnt a $94 shovel. Hence the reason on the first outing it ssssnapped. Didnt even get thru digging holes for veggies before it kerSnapped right at handle and shovel. So now what? UnImpressed. Shovel did okay, handle just not up to the challenge. Didnt even get a chance to remove the plastic from shipping...

One Use

Used it once before it started to fall apart.  Not a fan.  Looks good preforms poorly.
