No but the propeller will pull it forward.

Is the Snow Joe Ultra SJ621 self propelled?

It has to be plugged into a power outlet with an indoor/outdoor heavy duty cord, while it is being used.

This snow thrower does need to be connected to an extension cord in order to work. I think if it had a rechargeable battery, it would be difficult to maintain enough power for a long enough period of time. I use every inch of a 100' cord, and as long as I'm careful with it, the machine does exactly what it's supposed to do, and does it well!

I have shoveled snow for the last 70 years and always viewed it as good exercise. However, I decided last year that I wanted to clean the snow off the driveway and sidewalks faster.

Therefore, after searching for different models, I decided on this model. I am very pleased to have purchased it. It does an excellent task of cleaning up the snow and easy to carry right into the kitchen to dry off. I store it in my "shop" room.

It is easy to change the direction of where the snow is blown. I have used it to remove snow that is over a foot deep. One might have to go slower as the depth of the snow increases; however, I have had no issues with it thus far! AND it is fun!!!

Does a great job clearing the driveway. It cleared off five to six inches with no problem! A small are had iced over and it did okay if I went very slow. Best to clear snow before it can freeze over!
This works very well just as good as gas thrower but without buying gas and oil then mixing, not to mention storing it! Will not start unless safety button is pushes in then handle is squeezed! Good safety feature! I have only used it once in snow about 4-5 inches deep! Lightweight and easy to use!

Excellent for smaller driveways, back porch etc

I bought this at the end of January this year, and now I wish I'd bought it at the beginning of the winter season! I was shoveling my double-wide driveway by myself all winter, so who knows how many tons of snow I manually moved. But now, with the Snow Joe Ultra, I love getting out and throwing snow with this thing!

I've use it three times, with one time after about 10-11 inches of snow. And this thing did amazing! It went through everything, including snow that was higher than the machine itself! My neighbor even said it looks like my electric machine throws snow farther than his gas powered one!

I couldn't be more pleased with this! My community only needs about 10 inches or less of snow for the rest of the season to break the all-time record, and I'm hoping we get double or triple that amount so I can keep using this beast of an electric snow thrower!

This thing goes above and beyond!

My first impression is that it's built better than I expected. My first MINNESOTA usage the machine exceeded what I thought for the size and money!!!!!!

Alot for the money

Great snow blower for the price. Use only once so far, since I just purchase it. The snow was real wet and it did not throw it easy. Lighter weight snow would be no problem for the Snow Joe. Another plus is no gas and oil, but of course you have to watch the electric cord. It is a well made machine.
