No. the circular knob you see in the picture has to be turned to open and turned back to lock.

This has not been tested as waterproof or fireproof.

Press the number 1 to make the light flash green. Enter original code 1 2 3 4. Enter the new password and press "Start". Input password again, press "starts" again. The green light should flash, indicating it was successfully reset.

We just got our safe in the mail and cannot figure out how to get a password. Got the fingerprints set up but not enough information to do password.

So, we're using it as a place to keep the hand gun safe from the kids. It's heavy enough to feel secure. The fingerprint access is quick and easy and reliable. That's a feature I didn't see in any other safe until close to the $300 price point. It makes it almost like just another cabinet to use, but one we trust the kids can't access.

But this is not a 'heavy duty' or imposing looking safe. It feels like 1/16 steel in the back and sides, 1/8 in the front. It could be bolted down, which I may do soon.
If you built it into a cabinet or closet wall it would feel more secure.
It is not fire or water proof, so keep that in mind if you want to put cash or jewelry in there.

So if you want a decent level of security feeling, and the fingerprint access is of value to you (i would say it's a must if you plan daily access), then this a great deal for the price.

works great for the price

Serves the purpose that I needed it to at a fair price. Simple to use. Fingerprints weren't working the first time I tried, so I cleared it and it works fine now. Fairly lightweight but fits a lot. I'm very happy with it!

What I dislike about it it's hard to program another combination in it

This would have been an excellent purchase but the instruction it came with are very vague. Should be able to secure it to my bed but not sure how. Came with security bolts but not how or where to mount them. Had to program the digit sensor several times, it can't read the entire finger with one try. Good thing it can remember several fingers, had to program mine four times so it would unlock the first attempt. Still haven't reprogrammed the combination, follow the vague instructions but nothing seems to work. With that said finger print reader work easily and quickly once programmed, not sure of the combination operation.

Good purchase

I would not consider this as a safe, a much closer description would be a steel lock box.  Instructions were somewhat lacking in that they incorrectly identify where the button is located for setting up a fingerprint scan.  It will serve the purpose for which we purchased it, that is to keep valuables from easy access.

Functional to keep valuables not easily accessible

The door sticks when attempting to open, but that can probably rectified with lubes. Also wish the bolt holes were on the bottom of the safe instead of the back of the safe.

Sticky situation

When I received the item one of the brackets that hold the shelf was still attached but the other wasn't. Probably damaged in shipping, but it shouldn't have broken loose that easily. Wasn't soldered well.
