Excellent kit for the Artisan tilt-head. Also much better than the ones that come with the mixer. It would have been better if KitchenAid included them with the mixer in the first place, though. Even if the coating is safe, stainless steel is just better, IMO.

Worry Free Mixing

Do some research and stop blaming KitchenAid. 
The original parts are fine but it is not advisable to put them in the dishwasher, mainly because many detergents have removed phosphates. The phosphates helped keep aluminum items from breaking down. 
Had noticed a couple of years ago that anything we had with aluminum parts from meat tenderizers, utensils, to our mixer parts were suddenly turning gray and powdery. Did some research and found this out.

Here's why the aluminum breaks down now.

Very disappointed with the aluminum set that come with the original package. Paints chipped off after a few use. Why are we getting aluminum set instead of stainless steel? Why should we have to pay extra to buy this stainless steel? Kitchenaid should have done it right at the starting point.

These are great but should not have to be purchased seperately as an upgrade. They should come with the mixer because the coated and uncoated attachments contain lead and leach into the food. This is very concerning and disappointing considering many families use these to make food for their children and other adults.

I use my Kitchen Aid mixer for home baking but have found the white attachments chipped shortly after getting them. I'm really dissapointed with the quality of the attachments. Now I've learned there is lead under the chipped coating and in the whisk attachment too. Not acceptable Kitchen Aid! It should come with stainless steel attachments.

I was gifted the Artisan for Christmas. Due to physical limitations I can no longer use my KitchenAid hand mixer for baking projects and this new unit would be a game changer. I was so delighted, until I realized that none of the attachments are stainless steel. I am concerned about the aluminum  used in the standard attachments, and in fact have now read in user comments and elsewhere online that the coating on the paddle and hook may be prone to chip. As seniors we have to be health conscious and know we can rely on our food prep equipment. Quite disappointed.

Disappointed

Quite disappointed at the moment… I've had my Artisan Series 5-Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer for about 5 years and even though I don't use it very often it is still a staple in my kitchen especially around the holidays. Recently I've noticed that the white coating started to chip off on my flat beater so I've decided to order a replacement. Imagine my surprise and frustration when I started reading user comments here and then found numerous warnings online regarding health concerns associated with the original coated attachments.
It appears that I have an interesting choice now – replace one damaged attachment at a nominal cost and keep poisoning my family and friends OR spend almost triple the cost for each to replace all 3 of the original attachments with a lead-free stainless-steel option to avoid hazardous elements leaching into our food. 
Based on my research so far, I don't think KitchenAid is being fair to their loyal customers by selling a safer alternative at such a premium. I'd like to further note that even though I appreciate that the company ensures compliance with local regulations regarding lead content and has their CURRENT models tested for lead content and lead migration, it does not mean that the products are lead free which in my opinion should be a standard for any reputable product in our day and age where we constantly need to be health conscious and avoid any kind of exposure at home at least due to accumulating effects elsewhere (and I was always taught that the easiest way to do that is to know what's in your kitchen – that's the one thing you can control); furthermore, it appears that we also have ZERO assurance at this point regarding OLDER attachment models. I believe KitchenAid should do right by their customers to keep them and their families safe! Let's not wait until people start getting sick...

lead content and lead migration

I put them to dishwasher. When they came out, the coating on the base was washed off and bear metal was exposed. You can see in the picture it is disgusting. Only used once and now it is a food hazard

I have purchased 4 kitchen aid mixers for each of my children who all have children, plus one for myself, but now have been made aware that the attachments to our mixers all contain lead! Why would you manufacture lead containing products? Do you not care about your customers?  Do you realize how much it will cost me to replace the attachments for 5 mixers! So that my grandchildren are not exposed to your lead containing products! How about a recall! Or replace our attachments for free and in the future replace all attachments with stainless steel!
