This Oneida 6 inch mesh strainer works well to rinse small amounts of rice. I have about 1 ¼ cups of rice in the strainer pictured. The mesh is fine enough to prevent the rice from falling through and the rinsed rice slides out nicely. I do prefer my 9-inch strainer for rice as it is wider and rinses the rice clear quicker. I decided on the 6-inch size because I wanted to be able to scoop up ravioli from boiling water, or skim solids and foam that rise to the top of my chicken soup. It also works well for rinsing herbs and to sift flour or powdered sugar. For these duties, the 6-inch size is perfect. You can never have enough of a good thing. If you cook and bake enough you will appreciate this size strainer. The strainer has a lip on the top to hang or balance over a pot. The 6-inch is fairly small so it is not heavy to hold and the existing handle works fine, though it would be nicer if the handle was rounder and textured. It's best to clean the strainer immediately after using or soak in soapy water. Oneida's mesh strainers are dishwasher safe for easy cleaning and come with a lifetime warranty.

A little small but works well for certain things

The Oneida 6 Stainless Steel Mesh Strainer works great. It's small enough to dip into a pot, but large enough to pour a good amount into. Well made. Easy to store. I really like this product.

Very useful.

I received he Oneida 6" Stainless Steel Mesh Strainer from Spark Reviewer in exchange for my honest opinion. This strainer is exactly what I needed. The strainer is large enough to strain and drain pretty much anything from vegetables, pasta, etc. You can also use it dust baked goods with powdered sugar. It is wide enough to rest on a bowl or pot. The strainer comes with a Lifetime Warranty. If this strainer breaks during normal household use, you can request a replacement. I have a smaller one but this one just made my life a lot much easier. This is a must have if you live in the kitchen.

Just what I needed

Okay I love this. I make single serving food quite often and hate having to use a full-size strainer. This one is perfect for straining course things like quinoa and legumes. It's also really easy to clean. Plus, because of the size, it works phenomenally as a sifter for flour and powdered sugar.

Perfectly handheld

This stainless steel mesh strainer is a very useful tool to have in the kitchen. It works well when dusting powdered sugar onto sweet treats. It also works well when having to strain water out of a pot. This 6 inch mesh strainer is also the perfect size. Not too big and not too small. I like the fact that it is very easy to clean, and I have not found any crevices that food or sugar can get stuck in. Overall, I would recommend anyone to have this product in their kitchen!

Very handy to have in the kitchen!

This mesh stainless steel strainer is not only beautiful, it has SO many functions. It is very strong an I am sure it will last a long time. The 6 inch is a good size for my household. It will be used a lot. I highly recommend Oneida stainless steel strainer for every household.

Stainless steel mesh strainer

This mesh strainer is very good, its quality is good , the handle is strong , i liked that it is stainless steel , it is easy to use and clean , it is of perfect size for me .

Good quality

This is a nice strainer/colander. The handle seems strong and sturdy, and overall the strainer seems to be a good quality, especially since it is Oneida brand. I have enjoyed using it for my baked goods, and will definitely be helpful sometime in the future. It washes very well in the dishwasher and comes out cleaner than my old strainer, which is a plus. My only negative is I thought it would be bigger. I saw that it said 6", but it's not very deep, and is very small. The actual diameter from side to side is 5 3/4", while the diameter of mesh to mesh is 4 7/8". It is also only 2" deep. I was picturing a larger strainer when ordering. My old one could fit 5 cups of flour, but I can only get 2 cups in this strainer. If you're not dealing with a large amount to strain, this strainer is for you. But if you're trying to fit a lot In there for a large batch, I would recommend buying something different. This still works well for dusting the tops of brownies and things of that sort, just not exactly what I was hoping to use it for

Nice quality

I'm liking this stainless steel strainer to drain my hamburger grease. I was using a plastic strainer before and it was hectic to clean thw grease off of it. Not with this one it's the perfect size for me and i pike tuat it has some weight on ot also. So o know that it will last me a long time. Overall i am happy with this product and wouldn't change it for nothing.

Good strainer

I chose this strainer because its Oneida Brand. My mistake. Its not sturdy. It doesnt stay until I put something in it or it will collapse. On the other hand its not 6, only 5.5.
