Best can opener ever!  The extra large turn handle doesnt hurt your hand when you turn it, the solid handles stay firmly in place with a can attached and while being opened, and cand open confidently.  DO NOT SUBMERGE IN WATER OR WASH IN DISHWASHER

Best can opener..

So far it is working well. It has a strange sort of configuration in that if you hold the two handles together too tightly, it doesn't work as effectively; you actually need a sort of loose grip. Also I'm not thinking it will hold up that well over time. I am old enough to remember when products like this, and the metals used to make them, would last a lifetime no question. Things are made to be of poorer quality now to force people to have to repurchase every so often.

Work good; not amazing quality though

This is the exact one I recently purchased. I'm happy it: great blue color, and it feels strong, like it can open a tank (should you need to open a tank, and if you have the considerable hand/arm strength for all that handle turning!!) That is to say that there will be alot of turning, because the wheel is small and you don't get much distance around a can per crank. Also, this is the first manual can opener I've owned where I MUST remove the can's label first, otherwise the opener shreds the edge of the label a bit and it winds up in my green beans. Last problem is that with my previous (cheap) openers, I've always left a tiny bit of lid attached to the can. The lid rises from the can while opening, I dump my greens, or green beans, or corn into the pot, and toss the empty can with the lid attached into the trash, easy-peasy (though I NEVER open peas. :) ) This Kitcheaid opener however, seems to force the lid into the can (the lid doesn't rise from it) so I must open it completely. It is a tiny bit more of an inconvenience: fishing the lid out with a fork...loose lids...you know the deal, lol. Anyway, I bought this Kitchenaid manual opener to replace my old electric opener I was tired of fighting with and was ready to hurl out my 3rd story window. I'm happy with the purchase.

Good...with notes...

Bought Nov. 2021, used infrequently, hand washed. The turning handle snapped off opening opening a can of sweetcorn Feb. 2024 - so 2 years 3 months of service. The handle is plastic and attached to the round shaft/gear just by friction and 1 edge of the shaft being a little flattened. Given the overall substantial look of the opener I was surprised the handle attachment was so weak. It was broken by my wife, who normally asks me to open a stiff jar, so I can't imagine much force was used. Overall I thought I was paying for long lasting metal quality from a known mark, but the the thing broke as if it had come from a dollar store.

Loved this can opener until it broke.  And have not had it that long.  The handle broke off. No wonder.  It's plastic inside where it fits.  Very disappointed.  Will now only buy can openers with all metal parts.

Breaks easily

The product itself was easy to use, however, the can opener I received must have been defective.  It left skip spaces when opening cans which made its purpose useless.  I threw away the packaging after I opened it so I cannot return it....it was a waste of $12.

Defective can opener

This can opener is hard to turn and I am not sure if it was rusted when I received it but I have used it one time, hand washed it, towel dried it and then put it in the dish drainer , amd when i went to use it a second time noticed rust around the wheel. Really irritated at the quality, my last hand held can opener lasted ten years, dont buy this.

This broke 8 months after purchase. The handle snapped apart and the spring popped loose. I was simply opening a can.

Poor quality

I open at least two cans of dog food a day and prefer a manual opener because of power outages and having more uncluttered counterspace.  I ordered this can opener (again) because I like the long handles, trust the KitchenAid brand, and love the color.  This is a replacement for the first one that quit working.  When it works, it really does the job easily.  But, gradually it gets harder to use and won't turn at all, as with the first one.  The replacement got here on Aug 1 and now it has quit working on Dec 5.  The entire plastic handle came right off.   This is the second one I've had.  Neither lasted beyond 3 or 4 months.  I'm never buying another one of these or any KitchenAid openers because they just aren't built  well.   A manual can opener should last for years, not just a few months.
