When I opened the box I thought "oh, no".  It wasn't exactly like the unit that I was replacing, but I decided to try it anyway and ... It works.  We now have ice where we formerly had a groaning, straining and eventually a failed ice maker.

When our ice machine broke my wife's life was turned upside down. When I looked online to find a replacement before she bought a new refrigerator I was shocked to see Walmart had a replacement. I read the reviews and was unsure if it would fit but ordered it anyway...  the box came and we had ice dispensing in a matter of hours. Thank you Walmart, the cubes are cold, clear and keep my wife happy.

Saved me the price of a new refrigerator!

Good ice maker for the price!  I do think it does not make ice as fast as the original but it makes it fast enough and I cannot be sure whether it does or not.  You must have the power cord from the previous ice maker but they are clear about that. For my fridge, I had to cut the piece out of the new ice maker where the tube from the fridge feeds the ice maker.  You can tell it's made for that as it is scored where you need to cut with a utility knife so no big deal.  Based on the price as compared to the OEM ice maker, I highly recommend as it is MUCH cheaper!

Recommend Ice Maker Replacement

It isn't an exact replacement. The two top screw holes did not line up with the old ones. The plastic adaptor that screws into the bottom for the bottom screw hole didn't line up either. I removed the metal adaptor from the old one to the new ice maker and it did line up enough to hold the ice maker in place inside the freezer. The water line was also attached differently but I was able to adapt the water line holder for it to function properly.

Does the job

I am disappointed in this product.  It simply didn't fit, close but not quite a fit.  I mounted it anyway with new holes.  The unit did not work and I had already opened the knock-out piece for the inlet pipe to fit in.  On the original units from Whirlpool there are test ports to use to cycle the unit, check for water filling, etc.  The instructions on this unit are lacking and no help number is given.  I had to buy yet another unit, this time it was OEM.  I t cost a lot more but it works where your bargain-priced one did not.  I did not try to return it because I had opened the knock-out part for the inlet.

Bargain priced failure

Very frustrating as not enough images are displayed to make a decision. It sounds great, but the connection that plugs into fridge is nothing at all like mine. If you had at least shown the connection, I would have known it would not work with my fridge. Wasted my time. :(
