Needed to replace my wire whip for my ancient Kitchen Aid mixer.  I just received it and it is as advertised.  It is nice to be able to buy accessories for Kitchen Aid and not have to purchase a new expensive mixer  - and it is nice that Walmart offers this product.

Adding to the chorus of chipping dough hooks. Not even sure how mine chipped as it flaked off when hand washing it.

Bought this head to replace the original one that broke. Two years later the replacement broke. It seems like it should have lasted much longer, especially as I only use my mixer a handful of times a year. It broke in the same spot the original one did. The original lasted about 8 years, and was expecting at least that out of the replacement. Looks like I'll be ordering yet again.

I’ve had mine for years but never used it until a year ago, the shaft broke off the attaching base. Worked great until yesterday. I’d like to continue using my Kitchen Aid mixer for bread but I don’t want to buy the same item. Anyone know of a better replacement for model # KSM90

This hook had worn out at the top so much that while my husband was making bread, the hook slipped down far into the bowl and rubbed against the bottom of the bowl and caused the machine to shake and quiver so much that he had to stop and see what was going on. We found out that the pin had slipped out, and we spent at least an hour trying to figure out what had happened and watching the Kitchen Aid You Tubes to fix it. The You Tubes were great, and we finally figured out that the hook was the cause because it was scraping against the bottom of the bowl. Granted, we have had our Kitchen Aid mixer for a while (I cannot find the original purchase slip) and feel it should not have broken at all and created such problems. My husband is now swearing, "This is the hardest bread I've ever made."

I bought this kitchen aid specifically to help with dough kneading.  After 1 pizza, the dough hook is already chipping.  I can't believe it. So disappointed in Kitchen Aid.

I bought the mixer years ago, but just started using the dough hook. Noticed after a couple of uses the coating started chipping off. Would recommend not coating it as it is an ongoing problem.

I read more and more reviews about this problem and can only confirm the problem: the coating comes off the dough hook. This was just the second time that it happens to me. And it is clearly a production fail. The drying time for coatings is really important and has not been enough in this case. There should be a recall of these hooks! Incredible

Failed quality control

The dough hook works well, however, it chipped while mixing dough. I had to throw away an entire batch of dough and can no longer use the dough hook without risking additional chips breaking off. This is a safety risk. Based on the reviews this happens often and should have been resolved.

I was making doughnuts for my customers and noticed that there were white paint chips in my dough!!!!!!  There is NO reason for these hooks to be coated.  I only hope that I didn't sell anything with paint chips in it before I noticed.
