the pull bar is about 14 to 16 inches long. I belive you can change it as it connects to a chain. So you should be able to pop out a link.

How wide is the pull bar, and can it be changed?

Yes I have one and it is build out of strong metal square tubing.

Weight capacity: 250 lbs? I'm 265 could I still use this?

I first used this machine at the gym I go to regularly. The first day I used it I ordered one for my home. It's a very simple but effective machine that delivers a good workout with no impact on my back. Easy to assemble. It makes for a great workout when I don't have time for more strenuous routines. Low-Cost Easy-To-Use Rowing Machine

I really like it I'm only using it 5 minutes twice a day but will definitely be increasing my workout as my body gets stronger. I'm also working around mild arthritis in my knees. My doctors recommendation was to strengthen my knees and i feel it's helping.

Simple to use.

Okay, so I gotta tell people that this is one awesome rowing machine. I just finished putting my second one together. My first lasted 14 YEARS! and I put hundreds, if not thousands, of miles; countless hours on it.  I am up to 30+ minutes per day. The bungee cord did finally give out; but 14 years is what I call a very good run.  I would highly recommend that anyone follow the instructions that says to have two people to assemble it; though I did manage to do it myself with shaky hands and poor eyesight (I'm 65), it would be much easier to have a second person helping. Thanks Stamina; great product from a satisfied customer times 2!

MY SECOND ONE!!

Great product. Solid as Sears. My only beef is with the foot pedal. My first two plastic pedal covers snapped in half, but, Stamina came through and sent replacements. The rest of the machine is solidly built. 

I would definitely recommend this rower.

Just get it. You won't regret it.

Bought this 1405 Air rower 4 months ago and love this unit. I must note when moving or transporting the unit. I would zip tie the chain to a fixed point on rower. If chain comes off from handle full dis-assembly of the tension system is required, but very fixable. Had some issues with foot platform moving put a simple fix with a 3" stainless steel strap does wonders.Note you can remove both travel stop bumpers for more range of motion great for taller users 6'3+. Using a teflon lubricant on the rollers and pulleys makes the unit smooth to operate. For the value and benefit this rower is great.

Fast shipping and was not damaged upon arrival
The fan is built out of pretty decent plastic and is surrounded by a metal cage.

IF you look down the metal square tube your seat rides on you can see how the chain recoiling works. They transition from a chain to a bungee chord. I really wish it was a spring because i feel it will last longer. But the bungee seem to do fine. only time will tell how strong it will last. the bungee is a decent size it is about the diameter of a computer power cable.

The chain could be a step up thicker. I was hoping the size of a bike chain but its thinner than that. it is strong but if you bend the chain in the wrong way ( side to side) it could stress the metal.

identifying where these potential flaws may occur well help you know how to take better care of this machine.

Built well but a few things could be better

I love my ATS 1405 rower. Honestly I wanted to buy a Concept 2 Rower, but the price said no. I use my 1405 rower nearly every day for 6K or 7.5K workout. I row briskly at &lt;5 min per 1 K pace. My best 6K was 28.09 for 6K. I find 200M hits help keep my heart rate up. 

The only issue I have with the 1405 rower is that break the foot pedals every 4-6 months. Other than that the 1405 is a great budget rower.

I love my ATS 1405 Rower, but...

I bought this about 3 weeks ago and my training partners and I have used it a handful of times. I knew it would not have the smooth feel of a C2, but if you need a basic and inexpensive cardio machine for occasional or light use, this will do great.
It was difficult to put together but I was able to do it myself in about 2 hours.

Easy to use, works for a home cardio machine

The seat is just awful.  I have complained about this before.  People in the USA have large posteriors.  This seat is way too small and vastly too hard to use for any length of time.  I have resorted to using a pillow, which presents other issues.  The seat is so skinny that if I lean just a little, the entire unit falls over!  
Then you find that the chain falls off!  It is simply absurd how to get the chain back on.  The whole thing would be solved if the builders welded in a simple "bar" over the chain to make it retain in the event of a fall.  It takes an hour to finally get the chain back on. 
Ridiculous and a major design flaw in something so expensive.
Next, the computer broke in just a few months.  I gave up trying the only two ways the wires can fit, so I resorted to using a watch with a timer.
Be aware of these issues, particularly the seat.  These folks could have designed a proper seat years ago.  The mould would not be that expensive over the life of the product line.  Your butt will really ache if you use the seat for more than 30 minutes.

Fair Rower but with Issues

The machine works really well except for the rollers. I've only had the machine for a few months and am already on my second set, which are also starting to break apart. They leave small hard chunks behind, which leave black marks down either side of the metal post and impede rowing. When functioning properly, the machine is great, but the need to be in constant contact with the company to replace parts that should not be breaking down this quickly makes it more effort than it's worth, especially for the price. I use the machine every other day and am well below the maximum weight rating, so it seems like a manufacturers defect or cheap rollers.

Disappointed with the product after the first bolt fell out after a week of use and I couldn't get it re-inserted. I contacted customer service, and the rep was polite and helpful, saying they would send a replacement bar. A couple of days after the replacement arrived, and before I could exchange out the piece, another bolt fell out, so I ended up returning everything -- the replacement piece to Stamina and the full machine to the vendor where I purchased. The machine got at most three brief workouts a day -- 3-5 minutes each.
