To make the most of your Chromebook, yes you will need an internet connection. Most apps are only available and only function with online access.

I am a novice with these, do I need an internet connect

To my knowledge there is not a Skype application available. I would recommend checking the Chrome Web Store to see if a Skype app is available for download.

Skype is not supported but free video calls are. Google has its own software for most tasks. If you want to use video chat then you will want to download google "Hangouts" from the chrome web store.

If you have your Google account setup, then yes it should sync all your settings.

If you are signed in to your Google account on the current computer, it will save all your bookmarks. Then when you sign in on the Chromebook, it will load your saved bookmarks.

Will this machine's browser have all my bookmarks when I sign in to my Google acct?

Wow!!! If you are tired of windows o/s, make the switch to chrome o/s !!! Starting with this chromebook, you can't go wrong!! Being of the 'older' generation, and never working on any other Operating System, than Windows, I was very leary of making the change. But the chrome O/S is so easy to use. I actually am finding it easier, and more user friendly, than Windows. It's fast, no wait time for 'loading'. The only thing I wish they had included on this, is 3 USB ports, it has 2, one on each side. Oh, and the speakers are excellent !! Over all, I am VERY pleased with this Chromebook. It's a great buy for the bucks!!!

Acer C720-2420 Chromebook

The Acer Chromebook is excellent. I would recommend this Chromebook to anyone. It boots up in under 10 seconds. It is lightweight, under 3 pounds. A great buy at Walmart.

Excellent Chromebook

Nothing to do to set up. Connects to internet in seconds every time. I use it to view emails and shop online. I viewed other chromebooks but none connected as quickly as this one. Very happy with my purchase!

Great chromebook!

Cheap in price, easy setup to my home wifi router, prints to my printer after I verified the printer with Google Cloud. In school it has worked fine for google docs, mail, videos, etc. Battery life has been as advertised and works all day at school. All in all its a pretty nice package for $225. I actually like it better than his ipad but the school wanted chromebooks to keep the technology consistent along with a keyboard.
