It was very easy to install and work great

We love these locks, we install at the top of the door and even if he got something to stand on, I don't think he could open it.

Great locks to keep toddlers safe.

We had to order Door Guardian online through Walmart, but the product arrived quickly and was a reasonable price. Seems to be a pretty sturdy build and should do what it claims to do. We installed it on our patio door to keep our 2 year old safely indoors now that he can escape if not properly supervised. This lock is up high and so he can't reach it and it adds another level of security to our sliding door, which I had been wanting for a while. The normal patio door lock just didn't seem that secure.

My only complaint was the directions on how to install the lock were confusing and the paper template they include doesn't line up with the holes in the actual plate that attaches to the door. Doesn't tell you which screws to use where (use the shorter ones in the door assembly, longer ones for the keeper plate).

Thankfully I just drilled a pilot hole without using the template. I watched a video installation found on the Door Guardian website, but again it doesn't show an install with the Keeper plate which is included in the kit. There really isn't an explanation as to when the keeper plate is needed. I did install the plate and so far, so good (The keeper plate allowed me to install the lock without having to drill a big hole for the locking bolt to go through.)

Overall, simple to use, sturdy construction, not too difficult to install but can't trust the directions that are provided. It was helpful to see the video to get a visual of how it works.

Patio door lock

This product is supposed to work with most sliding doors. Mine is a standard sliding door, the most common and it does not work with my sliding glass door. I will be returning it.
