I have used a few different phone holders but this is the best.

Great Product

I actually do not own a cell phone but I do have a Magellan GPS that I used regularly until a auto accident damaged the suction cup holder.
The PanaVise PortaGrip Universal Phone Holders with Suction Cup Mounts Is the perfect replacement.
The suction cup secures to the window glass with a rotating lock instead of the leaver lock that my other one had. That leaver is what snapped off in the crash. This has a much better design.
My GPS is 3 inches wide and fits perfectly. The side grips open wide and are adjustable to 3.75 inches the directions say. The grip is tight and releases with the push of a button.
The adjustments are finite and you can put it at any angle you want and or need, It is very well constructed. I see many years of use from this product.
I did look around and compare prices and Wal-Mart is cheaper . I like to use Site to store for free shipping.
I highly recommend this product if you want your phone or other devices secured and not flopping around while you drive.

Handy Holder for my GPS

As soon as I opened the package and removed the Panavise Portagrip Phone Holder and held it, I could see that it is very sturdy and very well constructed. It is extremely easy to use. There is a side button to push to hold your phone. It pops right open and you can slide your phone in and close. I tried an I-phone 4, I-phone 5, blackberry and Droid XL. All worked easily. Your phone is locked in and will not fall out. The only other thing to do is apply the suction cup (which also has a slide to lock feature) and apply to your windshield. This is what gave me a problem, which is why it has taken me so long to write a review. It seemed so simple (and actually it was). I tried everything and the suction cup would not stick. I live in Brooklyn and the weather has been extremely cold. The heat was also not working in my apartment. Finally, I put some heat from my vehicle on the suction cup so it wasn't so hard. Immediately it stuck to the windshield with no problem and I locked it. It is easy to use your phone with the mount installed. There is construction all over Brooklyn and I travelled through the worst areas. The phone holder never moved. Once you park and are ready to remove your phone, simply push the side button and your phone pops right out.

Got this to try for free. Worked well and easy to use. Never fell off the windshield - good suction. Can adjust from vertical to horizontal mount if you plan to use it for GPS. Not an easy adjustment though - need to loosen and tighten joints. I also have a version with an extendable arm that I plan on purchasing. I found that since this mount did not have an extendable arm, it limited where I could place it. With this particular model, I would place it high near the rearview mirror since i did not want to need to reach forward to adjust my phone/GPS.

Sturdy and reliable phone mount for your car

This item arrived, securely packaged. It was easy to open, made of very nice high quality materials, and it was super easy to use. The back of the package even has detailed photographs and simple instructions plus a ruler with "Measure the width of your device to see if it will fit" and the ruler has the maximum (3.75 inches) and minimum (2.25 inches) widths clearly marked.

I thought this product would be great for my son's father. He has an HTC Evo phone, which is a different size than the standard iPhone, but we were able to effortlessly adjust the grips for a secure fit, as long as the phone was not in it's protective case. The protective case is made from a softer material, and the clamps can't hold it perfectly, so the phone slips out. This is a bit inconvenient, but we wouldn't mind if the suction cup actually worked. We could not get the suction cup to stay mounted to the car window. We even tried mounting it to the windshield. We thought it might be due to our really bumpy dirt roads, so we tried suction-cupping it to the windows in our home, but it lost suction in under five minutes. We even tried suctioning it to the computer desk (made of wood), and the dashboard of the car, but the suction cup did not hold.

However, we found a great use for it. Even without the suction cup actually "sticking", the holder can easily be adjusted to balance the phone just right on a flat non-mobile surface. So, it works great as a hands-free phone holder. It is ideal for use as a phone holder when he does his online gaming.
