This speaker wire features two conductors made of high purity (greater than 99.95% pure), oxygen-free bare copper. Pure Bare Copper is a superior conductor to the copper clad aluminum (CCA) conductors used in most other inexpensive speaker wire. CCA is only about 68% as conductive as pure bare copper. This additional resistance is added to the impedance of your speakers and can negatively effect the sound. For the wire to have no audible effect, the total wire resistance should be no more than 5% of the lowest impedance of your speakers. Even speakers rated for a nominal 8-ohms, may dip to as low as 4-ohms at some frequencies, which further reduces the total cable resistance allowed in the wire. Using Pure Bare Copper speaker wire ensures that the total load put on the amplifier remains as close as possible to the impedance curve of your speakers. For example, a 16AWG 2-conductor Pure Bare Copper speaker wire has a total resistance of 0.803 ohms per 100 feet (both directions must be considered). After reading several positives reviews online (Steve Guttenberg and wirecutter), I decided to give this 12 awg wire a try.  First, it's very reasonably priced - you can't lose.  Second, it's well made.  Third, it fits typical binding posts with no trouble (I did not use banana plugs)..  

And how does it sound?  It sounds at least as good as the 16 awg cables I was using before.  The bass seems better and it may have contributed to the system playing a bit louder too, but I changed more than one thing at the same time and I cannot say it was because of the wire.

Nice speaker cable and excellent deal for the price

This product and the gold-plated banana clips were the final addition to my new audio system.  The wires are very robust and definitely add warmth and depth to my speakers.  I had previously been using 16 gauge on 6ohm speakers, so the added heft allows for better sound quality.

There seems to be some dispute as to the actual measurement of the 12 AWG stranded copper speaker wire. I measured the conductors and it is in fact 65/30 (65 strands of 30 AWG) measuring .095". That would be 1.75 Ohms/1KF. If the wire was 14 AWG, the equivalent type would be 41/30 measuring .073". This would be obvious upon inspection. The insulation jacket may be thinner as compared to another 12 AWG speaker wire, so that may lead someone to think the gauge is not correct. For the banana plugs that used, I selected collars intended for a thinner gauge because it seemed to be a more snug fit around the jacket.

The sound is completely different since I installed this wire. Volume is much higher and sound is much clearer. Unfortunately, I had so many problems because of this company's outsourcing fraud protection that I may not buy from them again

Good quality speaker wire

I drilled holes in my floor and crawled under my house to install the wiring for my surround speakers.  The heavy duty cover protected the wires while pulling it through the rough holes.

This was much more than I needed (at the moment) but such a deal! I decided to go with the larger bulk roll to re-run all of the system  because the HT wiring has been in place for over two decades. The 12 ga. OFC  wire is well-marked with a blue stripe on one side for quick tracing.  It is slightly stiff, but it has the advantage of maintaining a shape for soft bends around corners and such. The jacket is a little tough to split at first but separates easily once you have a start.  IT FITS THE BANANA PLUGS! (#2008).This perfectly snugs into the closed end plugs without fooling with the jacket, allowing for a straight-in connection. Shipping was superior through the Fed-Ex.

Pure OFC copper wire!

This is quality all copper wire with a rather high number of strands making it very flexible. There is a blue painted stripe on one conductor that is wide enough to make it easy to see. The insulation is clear and abrasion resistant. It gets soft at higher temperatures. The resistance is 1.6 ohms per 1000 ft, and the nominal capacitance in 25pf/ft. This cable is suitable for any indoor cable runs for speakers typically found in homes. Properly terminated this cable will deliver all the sound your system can produce.

Quality Speaker Wire for Home Theater

This cable is of good quality and value.  The only thing I don't like about it is the plastic coating is pretty stiff compared to other speaker wires I have used.  Why don't they make these in 10 gauge?

Well made speaker cable

These are fine wires. However, do not use them for in-wall installations because they are not cl rated.    Cl ( in wall rating) imposes some minimum requrements for fire safety. ( Tixic outgassing, flammability, and minimum voltage rating. 
The consequence of using this: your installation will be non NEC  compliant.  Given the relatively small pervcentage of the total cost of your install the wire represents, do yourself a favor, and pick something code compliant!   imagine tryting to sell your house, and an inspector flagging your wires as a problem.. It will be a pain in the butt to rewire at that time. You may as well just pick the cl2 or cl3 rated wire to begin with, and be happy ever after,.

Fine wires, but not in-wall rated, It shoudl say so on the packaging

This is tiny in comparison to any other 14AWG I've ever used-even Monoprice's own 14/4 cable is bigger than this stuff. I'd say in honesty it's maybe 16 or 18 AWG. Love Monoprice but this stuff sucks.
