Yes, it would be possible to remove the paper. It appears to be sandwiched between the front of the screen and the back piece, and possibly glued to some of the decorative wood pieces in the middle of the panel.

Yes that could be done since the paper is one solid piece behind the wood.

You could do that. The wooden part is above the rice paper and paper is one continuous piece on the back. It wouldn't be easy to remove the paper it's not as cheaply made as one might think. It's actually very nice addition to any area of your home. But if you were wanting it to match something you could do so. It's one piece per section of the divider and the wooden accents are not attached to the rice paper in any way.

Its behind wood accents, if you wanted to remove, very cheaply made-buyer beware!!!

Not bright light but shadows we use it divide the living room from a desk area and it works well you can see a very mellow light and some shadows directly on screen but they block out brightness.

Yes, absolutely. They are translucent, so they don't darken the room too much. They do manage to provide perfectly adequate privacy though, and they provide a nice amount of diffusion.

Appearance

Came thru site to store, product was in excellent condition, no signs of damage, very high quality build for the price, very happy with product.

Excellent quality

This is the cheapest I have seen it. The exact product is also online at other sites. The color is exactly what it appears which is something I was worried about. I also loved that there was no assembly acquired. I will definitely recommend this. However be careful b/c the screen could get a hole easily.

great purchase

Before ordering this item I read all the reviews. All very positive. When it arrived and I put it up. I wasn't disiapointed. Used it for a wall to hide a storage area. Set up a lamp on the other side and because of the material panels the light makes it look like it glows.

I am so grateful it was shipped to our home. Thank you so much, the shoji screen was on sale so even if the shipping costs is high to Hawaii, we were able to get this at a pretty reasonable price. Soo happy and thankful we could buy this online and have it shipped to Hawaii!!!

the product is even nicer than expected

The simple Zen design is a great addition to any room in your house. I use mine in my bedroom where I needed to separate my bed from my office area when I sleep. Can be a little flimsy but I expected that and I always find ways to make it work. It works well with the overall layout and design of my room. Great!

Wow! Simple Zen

I would recommend this to anyone needing to break up an area or to hide something such as a washer and dryer in a small space. They look much more expensive than they were and I priced them at many places before ordering from Wal-Mart. I would recommend these because you really get your money's worth out of these and they look much more expensive.

They are very simple but elegant. They work well.

We bought this to separate the house so our cats, who do not get along, would not antagonize each other when we are sleeping/away from the house. It works great, and looks good too. I am pleased with the construction. My cats, however, have been able to move the *entire screen*, so now I am looking into ways to secure it to the wall. This isn't a mark against the panel, since it's very lightweight and meant to be able to be moved, it just means my cats are more crafty than I originally thought!
The "paper" part of the panel is quite thick, I don't think it would be considered rice paper, which means it won't tear/rip easily. It stills lets a small amount of light through, so the area where I have it doesn't feel enclosed. I am quite pleased with my purchase.

Pretty, and functional

Although I didn't keep it, it was a very nice piece that goes with any dark wood decor. I live in a small apartment and it was too big for my place. If my space was larger I would have definitely kept it.

Nice for Large Spaces

I meant to order a different divider that was the same cherry wood but I accidentally clicked this selection instead. I have to say I'm not totally disappointed, I didnt realize my mistake until a few days later when I was checking on my order status and noticed the picture, I figured I would wait and check it out before sending it back. Needless to say I didnt send it back it looks nice in my living room, seperating my couch and computer area. The wood is very nice. There are some minor craftsman issues with spacing at the hinges but that can be overlooked. Overall a pretty good product!

Unexpected

Very nice unit, EXCEPT. . . the hinges are cheap, shiny, polished gold-tone. They instantly draw attention to themselves and away from the nice panels, like sour notes during a nice musical performance. The hinges also leave much more of a gap between panels than is necessary: they are just surface-mounted rather than recessed into the frame. So this divider has half-inch gaps between panels, right where your eye is drawn by the shiny hinges. Other than that, it really is quite a nice item.
