4th smoker that I have owned... second Masterbuilt ... by far the best features of them all. Temperature holds +\- 5 appears to be very substantial .... time will tell. Results have been outstanding... overall great value!!

After doing my homework, I chose the MPS 340 for a couple of different reasons. One, I like the propane fuel. I mean, his thing sips Blue Rhino. Temp management is easy and the temps setting s are actually pretty accurate. I just kicked out 120 lbs of butts in two 60 lbs batches and they were awesome. In fact, my wife loves the smoker and I'm using to 3-4 times a week now. Got a 15 lb turkey in the box now... I simply could not be happier.

Holy moly, great smoker...

I've only had this for a week and have smoked a few things, but wanted to leave my initial impressions.    For the money, I am blown away with the features of this smoker and the quality.    I've had propane and electric smokers before and this one combines the benefits of both.   With quick and accurate heat the well insulated unit sips gas.   Smoke comes on quick and lasts long if you use water soaked chunks.   The only feature I wish it had was an external thermomter, but that was a quick and easy addition.   The casters and the propane tank rack are a real bonus.

Fantastic value

I had a 40 inch propane, and a 30 inch electric, both Masterbuilt smokers. The propane smoker never worked right, even when it was new. The 30 inch electric was great, until it stopped in the middle of smoking a pork butt. It was about four years old, and had lived outside that whole time. I always kept it covered, and it always worked until last time. 
I liked the electric better, but I couldn't put a full packers, cut brisket in the small electric, so I opted for a 40 inch electric.
There were several reviews that indicated the instructions were less than ideal. I strenuously disagree. Since it weighs 86 pounds, according to the box, I got my son to help me handle it. We turn it upside down, and unpacked it, then installed the legs. Total time spent 20 minutes. We turn it back over, install the temperature control the back handle and the door bracket. Total time spent 10 minutes, including sliding in the shelves, bottom, grease tray, and chip holder.

Prior to actually smoking, I am very satisfied.

I previously owned the Masterbuilt standard propane smoker and was really happy with it. I decided I wanted larger and thermostatically controlled temperature, I'm very happy with this smoker, it holds temperature well, the temperature setting is about 15 degrees off though but it's constant so I know to add 15 degrees to my temperature. 
Nice easy smoker to use - give yourself plenty of time to assemble it's not hard but is time consuming.

This smoker works great and keeps the temperature pretty darn close to your setting. Wish the wood chip pan was a little bigger but it smokes great!

I see temp control issues. I, personally,  have never had any issues. Once I learned to place a cast iron skillet inside, for the wood, all issues went away....... Until, finally, after 2 years, the bottom rusted out. I'm very sad, because it is a good smoker, it just doesnt last long enough.
